Member: Role

Brendan Abbott edited this page Jun 29, 2011 · 3 revisions

The Member: Role field allows you to assign members with different Roles to allow them to access pages or execute particular events. The Members extension installs with one default Role that cannot be deleted, Public. This Public Role is the default Role that all members of your website will fall under (ie. all unregistered members). This field allows you to set a default role, which the role that a member will take on when they register.

Notes

  • Filtering on this field may produce unexpected results when used with the the Member: Activation field on non-activated members. Non Activated members assume the Activation Role, not the Default Role, although filtering does not take this into account. To get all unactivated Member's, you can filter on the Member: Activation field using 'no'.

eg. John is a unactivated member. The Member: Activation field has a Activation Role of Role A and the Member: Role has a Default Role of Role B. Filtering on the Member: Role field by Role A will not return John while he is unactivated, as that is his 'masked Role'. Filtering by Role B will return John's entry.
