Comments
I would be in favor of eco.tdwg.org

Subject: [tdwg/hc] TDWG.org subdomain for the website (Issue #82)
It's best to avoid github.io URLs in completed standards, so we should set up a something.tdwg.org domain to replace https://tdwg.github.io/hc/. (The current https://tdwg.github.io/hc/ will continue to work, in the same way as https://tdwg.github.io/ac/ redirects to https://ac.tdwg.org/.)
1. What should the subdomain be? hc.tdwg.org, he.tdwg.org, eco.tdwg.org...?
2. Should this be done now, or closer to the release? I can set up DNS in advance, which will then allow anyone with admin access (including me) to activate it from Settings → Pages on this repository at the appropriate time.

Since the old URL would continue to work, I'm not sure if there is any reason not to just do it now if we agree on the subdomain name. The Humboldt TG is meeting on Wednesday morning, so I can see what people think then. |
@MattBlissett at the meeting yesterday we decided that "eco.tdwg.org" would be the subdomain to use for the Humboldt Extension ancillary website. I don't see any reason to not go ahead and do it right now since it will have no effect on existing links. In discussion, @tucotuco and I noticed that the Chronometric Age Extension is in exactly the same state. https://tdwg.github.io/chrono/ should be chrono.tdwg.org to fit the pattern we've been using -- again, I don't see any reason to not do this now if @tucotuco agrees. |
tucotuco agrees. |
Both sites are now live: |
I have changed the links on the DwC menu to the new subdomain in this commit tdwg/dwc@b3b6c9e The chrono page has lost its theme. I don't have push access to the chrono repo, but I think I have fixed that in this pull request: tdwg/chrono#43, where I also made the navigation menu match that of DwC. |
