A Python package for Sheets ↔ pandas is looking for a new home
#3628
Not a bug report, and apologies if this is the wrong venue — happy for it to be closed if so.
I maintain gspread-pandas, a Python package that moves data between Google Sheets and pandas. It's ten years old and gets around 341,000 installs a month.
It had been abandoned in the open. The original author left a notice on the project page saying he no longer used it and that supporting the current gspread was more work than he could take on — so it sat on a 2024 release while downloads kept climbing, with three pull requests open, the oldest from 2020.
We acquired it from him and shipped four releases last week: gspread 6, Python 3.9–3.13, pandas 2 and 3, tests from 58 to 166, no open PRs, open issues down from 13 to 4. Docs at https://paradigmllc.github.io/gspread-pandas/
Paradigm renovates projects and hands them on rather than running them long-term, so it's looking for a new long-term owner — the repository, PyPI ownership and the name.
I'm raising it here rather than emailing anyone because Teable is built in the open in the same space, and this seemed the more honest place to put it. If it's of no interest, please just close this — no reply needed.
