LinuxPlayer 1.0 is out. It is a free, GPL-3.0-or-later local video player built with Qt Quick and libmpv. The interface hides playback controls while watching, with a lock mode for a clear video view. It also has a compact mini-player, resume prompt, audio/subtitle track selection, playback speed, shortcuts, and a canvas-ratio preview for formats such as 9:16 and 1:1. The preview changes only playback framing; it does not edit or export the video.
Try it: download the amd64 or ARM64 .deb, or review the source. The terminal installer selects the architecture and verifies the package checksum. Packages are built on Ubuntu 24.04 and install-tested on Ubuntu 26.04; other Debian-based systems depend on compatible libraries.
