The axios-response-mock is intended to be for axios what fetch-mock is for the fetch API. The mock can be configured to selectively intercept requests that are made via axios and answer those intercepted requests with prepared mock responses. Unmatched requests will by default be processed normally.
axios-response-mock uses the axios adapter mechanism.
Add the axios-response-mock
library to your package.json
and install via npm.
Instantiate and connect a Mock
to any axios instance you want to be able to intercept.
Define any routes you want to intercept, using any combination of matcher options.
A route is matched when all provided matcher options are matched.

The default export from axios-response-mock
is the library's base
object that can be used to .create()
a Mock
instance.
Importing axios-response-mock
(without calling any functions) is side-effect-free (see https://webpack.js.org/guides/tree-shaking/#mark-the-file-as-side-effect-free).
Calling .create()
without any arguments connects the Mock
instance to the default axios instance (the one that is obtained via import axios from 'axios'
).
If you want to connect the mock to any other axios instance you have to provide it as an argument to .create(axiosInstance)
.
After you obtained a Mock
instance you can use a variety of functions to specify which requests and conditions you want to intercept.
Routes that are prepared on any specific mock can only match and intercept requests that are made via the connected axios instance that was used to create the mock.
So if your project makes use of an axios instance exampleApi
like in the following example you can associate a new mock instance by calling .create(exampleApi)

The API is modeled after the fetch-mock API, which has shown to be simple and clear, yet at the same time flexible, powerful, and expressive. Currently the functions availabe are a subset of the fetch-mock functions (more about that).
Obtained via import mockBase from 'axios-response-mock'
the base object allows you to create and connect a new Mock
instance.

A variety of different matchers is supported; matchers can be combined (e.g. to test both request URL and body).

String: a string as the matcher is tested against the request URL (testing for
equals
). If the provided matcher string is not an absolute URL the configuredbaseURL
from axios is combined with the provided URL; the resulting absolute URL is tested against the request URL. Note: merging behavior of the relative URL and the base URL is identical to merging behavior of URL constructor. If nobaseURL

URL: a URL instance as the matcher is tested against the request URL by obtaining the resulting
href
(testing forequals

RegEx: a RegEx as the matcher is tested against the request URL by calling its
.test()
method. -
Function: a function as the matcher (
(config) => boolean
) can test anything related to the current request or even use extenal information. It is called with the current request configuration and expected to returntrue
to indicate a match andfalse
otherwise.

Be aware that the
data
field is stringified. If your request data is JSON you will need to callJSON.parse(config.data)
before you can make any assessments of it. -
Object: an object as the matcher must at least have one matching related property (url, functionMatcher, method, headers, body (with or without matchPartialBody), query, repeat); can combine different matchers; and can contain options related to how the response is to be generated (response, delay).

When matched: will call the function; the return value of which determines how a response is derived from it:

- or even another function
If you are using a matcher object you can set all options directly in the matcher object. The options object structure is identical to the matcher object structure. If you provide both the two objects are merged; properties on the matcher object overrule properties with the same name on the options object.
