Unusual Interactions
This page is for lesser-known things the randomizer might expect you to do.
This puzzle has several alternate solutions. Aside from the traditional Shuriken, you can use Flare Gun from below or roll a Bomb through the gap. You can even hit the pot with a Chakram using a properly timed double jump, but you won't be able to recover your Chakram.
Since the non-randomized game places Scalesphere inside Spring in the Sky, the randomizer does not consider it to be required for swimming through water if you have enough HP to do so without.
You can reach Pazuzu with Feather but no Grapple Claw if you time the cycles correctly.
You can also stop time to prevent the flame jets from interrupting you on the way down to Pazuzu's room.
Even if your settings require Ice Cape to enter lava, you can still be expected to open the chest right of the Inferno Cavern grail tablet that normally contains the Ice Cape. No Sacred Orbs are required.
Even if your settings require Flare Gun for Chamber of Extinction, you can still be expected to enter the first room of Chamber of Extinction via the lower entrance and hit the Bronze Mirror block to open the chest. The original game tells you how to do this in the dark, so the decision was made to preserve that with randomizer logic.
If using randomized transitions between areas, you may wind up in the room where you place the first of two weights in order to clear the poison in Twin Labyrinths. The timer will not start, but you can still place the weight, and if you leave the room and then enter from Ellmac's room normally, you'll be able to place the second weight and clear the poison.
You can kill the sub-boss with many eyes using weapons that cause it to turn blue. Damage for those weapons is reduced, but the sub-boss will eventually die.
After defeating all bosses to transform Shrine of the Mother, you can access the Death Seal chest, since the wall of skulls does not appear in the transformed version of Shrine of the Mother.
In the room above the grail tablet in Gate of Illusion, there is a ladder that brings you back to Eden room of Gate of Illusion.
The wall that separates the two sides of Graveyard of the Giants can be broken from the left side if you have Bombs as well as the Ring.
You can reach the boulder in the Axe room with Feather but no Hermes' Boots. Jumping into the walls lets you regain control over your direction, so you can move forward and continue gaining height.
With Grapple Claw but no Hermes' Boots, you can get far enough up in the Axe room to throw Shurikens at the boulder.
You can knock over the pillar in Chamber of Birth with only Feather. It's based on how much time you spend near the top of the pillar, so you need to delay your second jump a bit.
One of the sub-bosses in Dimensional Corridor is in a room with waterfalls. If you enter the room via the ladder on the right, you can spawn the sub-boss, finish the fight with projectiles, and climb back up the ladder to leave. See the Combat Strategies page for more details.
With one-way transitions randomized, you may find yourself taking a ladder into the lake of lava at the bottom of Inferno Cavern. It's possible to swim out of the lava for access to Inferno Cavern with less than 64HP, but the randomizer won't expect it until you have 2 or more Sacred Orbs (or Ice Cape, if your settings require it).
You may be expected to use Gate of Time to access Tower of the Goddess for the first time.
If you don't have Feather yet, there's a breakable wall above the pipes on the right-hand side that allows access to the remainder of the tower.
If using randomized backside doors or transitions between areas, you may also be expected to enter Tower of the Goddess from the lower left entrance. In the base game, this causes the statue in question to disappear permanently, and this interaction has been preserved for the randomizer even if the door doesn't lead to Tower of Ruin.
For the upper left entrance, you appear behind the statue but can jump out of it, leaving you trapped in Tower of the Goddess unless you have another way out. This can also provide access to Tower of the Goddess (if you aren't trapped there).
With backside doors or one-way transitions randomized, it's possible to enter Tower of the Goddess from behind one of the goddess statues. The one with the shield doesn't move unless you enter from the Tower of the Goddess side, but the one blocking the up-ladder will disappear if you have the Plane Model. The one on the left which normally leads to Tower of Ruin, however, will disappear permanently if you enter from that side, with or without Plane Model, as it does in the base game.
If using randomized transitions between areas, it's possible to enter Chamber of Extinction via Gate of Time. The door back into Gate of Time is initially closed, but you can open it from the other side as usual.
