[21 Moon] Tunnel Company exchange still an option in Corporate Round #10368
Comments
Description of symptoms not parsed from initial entry. Tunnel Company is in my company (LG). |
This power has been clarified by the publisher. It is used by the president of the corporation in the Stock Round, not the Corporate Round. See https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3234584/questions-about-p2-and-p6 |
I changed the code to allow this in a SR, but I hadn't realized that you can still click the power in the Corporate Round. That's a bug. |
I have looked at the link in your message. Scott Petersen’s reply to Dan Blum does NOT say the power can only be used in a Stock round. Nor does the errata (which I had already read) say that. Dan certainly did not say it would be an issue when we played 21Moon on February 5.
According to rules “6.1.6”
"The owning player or corporation may take one stock certificate from the bank pool for free.” It cannot be used in the first Share Round (per the card) or after the Tunnel company has been closed (per rule 6.1, at the start of Operating Round 4.1).
The implication is that it can be done in any Operating Round, Share Round, or Corporate Round,
My Company (Corporation) is trying to do so.

Thank you for the reply.
Pre my slightly earlier reply, I believe it should allowed in a CR or an OR. Should I post a reply to the BBG exchange between Dan and Scott to see if we can get Scott’s opinion?
I admit coding those possibilities could be a pain in the butt. Sorry if I end up making more work for you.

The rules only address swapping during the Stock Round. There are no rules
allowing it outside the SR.

With respect, I disagree. “Swapping” is only done in SRs. The Tunnel Company power is, however, called an “exchange”, not a swap.
I believe the best thing is now for me to post a message on BBG asking Scott Petersen to clarify his intention. And to continue the game in progress without the exchange in CR 4.
Respectfully,
John

Sorry, disregard my reply about swaps since you are not discussing swaps.
This thread references Jonas' original rules which specified it is only in
SRs.
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2743739/tunnel-company-ability
I think with the rulebook rewriting, that got lost and it's perhaps not
specifically defined. I agree that a BGG thread would be good and Jonas can
clarify. I am pretty sure he will say it is only during SRs.

FYI, @scottredracecar is Scott Petersen. |
Hi, Scott. Did not recognize you by your Github user name. Embarrassing.
I admit having missed the referenced exchange on BBG. I agree Jonas Jone’s reply should be definitive but does not entirely make sense to me. Normally, only players act in SRs while Corporations act in CRs. I will ask on BGG just to be sure.

While Jonas didn't actually respond to your question, he did thumb my response which was that the TC exchange only happens in SRs. |
I bow to your wisdom, Scott.

Note there is still a bug in the code as it shouldn't even allow you to attempt to do the exchange in a CR. |
Trying to "exchange" Tunnel Company for Market share in Corporate Round 4.
