Project description helpers

We've merged the first part of the project description helpers, but it's not yet in a good state to be used by the users. This issue lists some of the things should be tackled before we consider the feature done.

• Extend the init command to support generating projects that don't have helpers.

The only missing part is extending the init command to support initializing standalone projects. Since something along those lines will be done as part of this effort, I'm closing this issue.
