There have been extra years added to the existing dataset:

https://catalogue.ceda.ac.uk/uuid/3628cb2fdba443588155e15dee8e5352

The latest data set is now for 2020-12-01 (20201201-ESACCI-L4_FIRE-BA-MODIS-fv5.1.nc)

It is probably enough to increase the upper range by 12:

https://github.com/ubilabs/esa-climate-from-space/blob/develop/data/downloads/odp-ftp-fire.sh#L9
