Currently, background images are stretched to fit the screen, making them squashed! I'd prefer proportional scaling, maybe even cropping before selecting it. Great app!

I'd be happy to, but don't have any App programming experience or much time 😅. I thought I'd just submit the feature request in case somebody would like to improve the app.

Haha it certainly wasn't intended as a demand. Generally, I find that other software packages appreciate feature requests from less technical users almost as much as pull requests, and I didn't realize this was different for this project.

I think that this quote from #40:

(because of we know e-x-a-c-t-l-y what the software does and what the software does not)

generally does not hold; I think that users can contribute ideas as that the developers may not have thought of yet. Now that is not to say that this is the case for this particular feature request; I'm sure it's a rather obvious one, but just in case I thought I'd submit it.

Anyhow, no harm intended.
