Hi there!

I have recently moved from Ubuntu Gnome to NixOS Gnome. I really like this icon pack, but unfortunately, on NixOS the Visual Studio Icon is the same as the Text Editor. I don't recall having this issue on Ubuntu.

Is there a way to fix this? Maybe manually selecting the icon for it...?

I'm not sure if I know how to check the name of the app on NixOS. (Other than what is shown on the app list)

I didn't install it via nix package manager. I use it via Home-Manager, I have a configuration for it.

But shouldn't the name be the same among all platforms? I guess it's something like vscode (programs.vscode in HM)...

Search and find the name of the app, for example with deb package "code" is the default name for vscode

I don't know nixos, i cannot help you if you don't have the name of the package

Here's some infos about VSCode on Nix. I don't know much about how icons are handled, but if it is like in Arch and work as I think, then we have to look up in the .local/share/applications, find the relevant .desktop and get what's after the Icon= line.
https://nixos.wiki/wiki/Visual_Studio_Code

Edit: For me on Arch it works fine, the .desktop Icon is code.
