Overview

ScreensBlackout is a really simple tool that is designed to, well..., black out screens in multi-screen setups.

How It Works and How to Use It

The way it works is by placing a black overlay over your screens. The application exits once you click or press a button.
The reason it's implemented that way is to avoid using your system resources when you don't need that functionality, allowing you to trigger as needed.

For more convenient use, you can create a shortcut and set a key bind from the properties window, or – if you're using a macro pad – just program it to execute the .exe file and that's it. After you're done, one keypress would activate the overlay, and a second would remove it.

Use Cases

Use it however and whenever you please, but I find it being especially useful to put on when stepping away from an OLED screen, as can help prevent burn-in problems.

Or... it can serve as a perfect screensaver when scheduling a nightly shutdown!
Just schedule the shutdown, put on some relaxing music, enable this screen saver, and enjoy a good night's sleep 😴
