Unrecognized document element: html

Seems like sometimes I'm getting html back from a Notary instead of xml

My best guess is that you are triggering a bug in the notary server
and it is coughing up an exception page. If you let me know how to
reproduce I can probably track this down (or I may even be able to
find something in the notary err logs).
