On 1.0RC2 the core will be fully separated from themes as a upgradable npm package . The webpack build and service worker will be extendable from themes and themes will have their own package.jsons, plugins. extensions and filters. The core pages API will be restructured to be easier to work with and more upgradable. After this milestone the Storefront will be not only production ready (it is since 0.3) but mature and upgradable.
