Mobile Accessibility at W3C https://www.w3.org/WAI/mobile/

Purpose

  • Provide a landing page for people who search for "mobile accessibility".

Answer the questions:

  • Does W3C have mobile accessibility standards?
  • What is W3C doing related to mobile accessibility?
  • Where can I learn more about mobile accessibility?

And:

  • Explain that WAI's existing standards (especially WCAG & UAAG) apply to mobile technology.
  • Promote WAI work related to mobile accessibility.
  • Guide people to W3C resources related to mobile accessibility.

(And also explain that it's more than 'mobile'.)

Objectives

  • When people use external search engines on "mobile accessibility", this page is the first result.
  • People understand that most mobile accessibility issues are already covered in WCAG 2.0. Some are covered in UAAG 2.0. And more will be covered in WCAG 2.1.
  • People know that WAI is working on additional guidance on mobile accessibility, including through WCAG 2.1 (but not separate mobile accessibility guidelines).
  • People can get to the Mobile Accessibility Task Force info.

Audience

  • Policy Makers <-- an important audience for this page
  • Accessibility specialists
  • Developers
  • Designers
  • Project managers
  • QA testers
