Visible label is needed?: WCAG 3.3.2 #3213
-
Hi Team, I would like to know whether the visible label is needed here in this scenario. Is Join our mailing list working as a visible label for the Email address field? or a visible label such as Enter your Email address is needed here(because a placeholder is used here as Email Address) I think that 'Join our mailing list' is not acting as a visible label here for the Email address field. |

Visually, "Join our mailing list" would satisfy 3.3.2 Labels or descriptions - I'd see it as a description that implies the type of input that the field below expects. Problems however exist with 1.4.11 (the bottom line does not indicate the field alone, but runs across field and the 'sign up' control, so it doesn not clearly identify the input), also with 1.4.3 (placeholder text has insufficient contrast). And to satifsy 1.3.1, the text input would need to have a programmatic label, e.g., via something like @AccessibilityEnthusiastic Does this answer satisfy you so we can close this discussion? |

aria-label="email address"
or via visually hidden label text.@AccessibilityEnthusiastic Does this answer satisfy you so we can close this discussion?
