Amazon RDS - DB Stats

This script will give you back Minimum and Maximum values for Free Storage Space, CPU Utilization and Database Connection count for a given time period before Time.now.

To run the script you will need

  • An Amazon AWSAccessKeyId

  • An Amazon AWSSecretKey

  • An Amazon RDS instance identifier

  • A number of minutes representing a time period before now (i.e 60 = last hour)

Run with ruby rds_db_stats.rb AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID AWS_SECRET_KEY_ID RDS_DATABASE_ID TIME_IN_MINUTES e.g

ruby rds_db_stats.rb 06FKISN8756DHLKW7G2 W8756DHLKW7W+L8756DHLKW79282765432GFTJPeK database-main 60

  • This script currently uses my fork of the amazon-ec2 gem, as there is an issue with parameter passing ‘Dimension’ parameters to Amazon Cloudwatch. I’ll remove this once my fix gets (hopefully) gets accepted to grempe/amazon-ec2.
