The latest couple of updates have introduced a problem with my display where when I select HiDPI mode the display then renders at 3424x1926. Any attempt to adjust this kicks it out of HiDPI mode and back to its native pixel resolution.

The reason I am asking is that Apple again tweaked M1 Pro limits in Sequoia. Now even SDR is limited at 120Hz, exactly at the resolution you mentioned. You can try lowering the refresh rate.
