Using Web3Modal with Wagmi

I am using Web3Modal to connect, now I would also like to use wagmi in my codebase for the goodness it provides with the web hooks.

So in my NextJS app, i wrapped my _app like so:

However in a component when I use a hook, i dont get the active connection that I have already made to metamask.

const { address, isConnecting, isDisconnected } = useAccount();
console.log(address, isConnecting, isDisconnected); // undefined false true

How come it does not find the active connection? Is there a way to inject it (if thats even possible) into wagmi?

wagmi has it's own connectors separate from web3modal so you either need to use one or the other.
