Supermium 121 not installing on Windows XP SP3 and Windows Server 2003 SP1/SP2 #179
Comments
same issue for me..... |
If you download it from the git hub you have to pay for it on win32’s Patreon and download it from there from now on for XP it is paid software for XP only |
It is not. |
I managed to get the "Supermium 121.0.6167.81 Hotfix" running on my main RealHW XPSP3 x86 dual core with 4GB RAM. I used a bit of extraction of the extraction-tricks mentioned in here to workaround problems of the 32bit installer on XPSP3 x86. There was no need for any payed executable, the official github stuff from win32ss worked fine for me. I stumbled over different issues during the setup: progwrp.dll missing, then propsys.dll missing, then installer crashing with dbglogs, crashing without debuglogs. More extraction games. No success yet from within a VBox4.3.12 VM with ~1000MB RAM, single core CPU emulation. Hope that it will get better by an updated installer. |
OK, I finally got it working in a Windows XP 32bit VM, which had 1 CPU assigned, so Supermium was unable to start.
So, it turns out that you can only remedy that by reinstalling. Then I found this: Downloaded HALu-0.2.0.zip from this virtual box forum thread. Note, that it may not perform as well as the native install of multi-processor. Supermium now started. 😀️ However performance is worse than on Windows 7 or Vista. Got the memory consumption back to normal by placing the rebased dll's from this comment next to |
@EgorKuzevanov can we close this issue as fixed, now that the newer "Supermium 122.0.6261.85" with the new XP-compatible installer has been released? Is it fixed for you? Or is that issue still present with the propsys.dll and we do still need some new fix to make it run on single core CPUs? |

I'm getting an error about PROPSYS.DLL missing. Copying this library from Windows Vista SP2 to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder from Windows XP SP3 did not help, the Supermium 121 installer fails without any errors.
Windows XP SP3 and Windows Server 2003 SP1/SP2 are installed on VMware Workstation v15.5.7.
