  • Team reviewed actions; reminder that there is a F2F planned for 11 September;

  • the team discussed issues (starred "*"), see notes below and in issue comments

    • NWP subtopics proposal: https://github.com/wmo-im/wis2-topic-hierarchy/issues/44#issuecomment-1600366494: (Antje) recommends that they make a PR with a particular version; the team noted that versioning (X.y) is still TBD; [SIDE COMMENT:(Guillaume) expressed a separate concern about how TH might flood users with too many results and demonstrated how searching in catalogs usually start at the "bottom" of the TH;]
    • Multidisciplinary datasets (/issues/36): Tom shared the most recent decision with the team;
    • Browseable READMEs in the GitHub: team likes the approach; (Tom) it would be also good to have a simple text of the TH (e.g. weather.predictions.nowcasting) for copy/paste
    • Index file notifications: (Guillaume) this is cutting into putting overloading the notification message with metadata; If this is acceptable for GRIB2, then why not use the same approach for satellite data?; (Tom) each GRIB2 file should be provided and the link to the directory (with GRIB2 and index files) should be in the metadata record; (Antje) the canonical link...(?) (Tom)...? (Guillaume) this approach is too data dependent (?); (Antje) could they put the grib and index into a zip file/tar ball? (Tom) but then there's an extra step to access the data; (Tom) each GRIB2 file has a notification message with a link to the GRIB2 data file and a related link to the index file in the notification message; (Antje) if cache="false" then no problem; (Tom) the index file is only a helper, not required to cache; (Antje) if there is one-to-many and then everything might get downloaded to cache and we don't want this; (Team) notification message can provide a related link to the parent directory with all the grib and index files; (Antje) it would be better if each notification for each grib file had a direct link to the relevant index file because this would support programmatic downloading; (Tom) let's try to keep the approach domain independent;

  • Organize level 8+ topics: https://github.com/wmo-im/wis2-topic-hierarchy/issues/38: @amilan17, @antje and (maybe others) will prepare something for the next meeting;

  • Tom provided a quick overview on WCMP2 actions; final recommendation on provider roles was to use the roles from "STAC" and there is a PR implementing this; Controlled vocabularies and facets and WNM will be discussed at the next meeting;
