All the cool people are doing it. See here.

We need a color scheme and a photo/library logo to do this.

Here's what I've got. Start with a map of Guatemala and Belize (shown below). Then put dots where the Mayan villages are. Then connect the dots as trade routes.

Then, remove the map and put villager in big text with the abstract trade network above it. EDIT: Hex stickers actually have the name above the photo.

I think that it's a pretty accurate representation for the library, and has a cool backstory for the node layout. The 2 minute scratch work above won't make it far in any review process, but if this is something we want to pursue I'm game.

I kind of envisioned the nodes in this style (but 2-d) and a different color scheme

I'm traditionally bad with graphic design; I'm fine with spending $15 and outsourcing the work on Fiverr. Maybe we could get a graphic design student that's interested in the intersection of science and art? This is probably a topic for Friday's call. If anyone else on the project is pretty good with graphic design that also works.

i'd chip in for that, sure. but yeah, if it's something we could put out for the benefit of someone at ucsb, all the better. maybe a student could do it for credit?

@zizroc I really like that one above. It looks like are a number of tools available to make the sticker. Should we vote this Friday on it?

Alright I'm giving up for now out of frustration. I attempted to remove the text so that I could use the hex sticker layout for it but had issues with the background color. If anyone feels up to it, I used this service to make the background transparent and this service for the hex sticker.
