Material TV Launcher 0.1.5 — Gemini voice
Press the remote mic from Home or inside an app to ask Gemini. Uses your OpenRouter key, with a small local Silero speech detector.
- Add or change your key in Settings → Voice assistant, then enable Gemini. Installing or saving a key keeps your current assistant; restore it from the same settings.
- Open apps, search/play supported content, control playback and volume, or switch HDMI inputs using Android intents and media controls.
- The remembered Now Playing card now restores a matching YouTube item and playback position, verified on a real TV.
Install: download material-tv-setup.zip, unzip it, and run bash install.sh <tv-ip> inside material-tv-setup. The ZIP includes the APK and all setup/restore tools. Agent setup can use install-voice.sh --key-file FILE --enable-gemini; see AGENTS.md. Existing v0.1.4 installs can update in place.
Privacy: requested voice audio and TV context go to Gemini through OpenRouter. No screenshots, screen reading, or automatic in-app navigation. Home works offline. A funded OpenRouter key and internet are needed for Gemini.
Compatibility: Android 12+ with 32-bit ARM app support. About 13.8 MB APK. Content playback depends on each app's intent support; some apps open search results requiring a selection. If an app loses the remembered item and exposes no content link, exact resume is unavailable.
Tested build: 219. Signed APK, 23 setup/restore tests, capture regressions, and 43 real-TV integration checks passed. The voice API check used recorded test audio; physical remote-mic pairing was not re-measured for this release.
Material TV Launcher 0.1.4
Home, Apps, and Settings now share a tinted top-bar strip. Now Playing gets a pill-shaped card.
The README is shorter, with technical setup and build guidance in AGENTS.md. Voice is still in development and is not included.
Download material-tv-launcher.apk and install.sh into one folder, then run:
bash install.sh <tv-ip>To undo, run bash uninstall.sh <tv-ip>.
Material TV Launcher 0.1.3
Now Playing card: remembers what was playing for up to 6 hours after the app stops, with the position where you left off; play resumes the app's own session when it is still alive, otherwise reopens the app; album art no longer flickers while a song plays.
Install: download material-tv-launcher-0.1.3.apk and install.sh into one folder, then run
bash install.sh <tv-ip> material-tv-launcher-0.1.3.apk (see the README). Undo with bash uninstall.sh <tv-ip>.
Material TV Launcher 0.1.2
New in 0.1.2: console tiles show the console's own name (e.g. PlayStation 5) instead of the TV's generic "Playback 1".
Install: download material-tv-launcher.apk and install.sh into one folder, then run
bash install.sh <tv-ip> (see the README). Undo with bash uninstall.sh <tv-ip>.
