Sort by option in playlist

Good to have sort by option in playlist by Name ,Artist, Album, Date Created etc...

can we have option like this to sort the playlist?It is difficult to find a song in playlist that has 100s of songs, if it sort by name or artist we can easily find the song.

I think if we could get this sorting option in the self-created playlists it would be enough. The playlists Favorites, My Top x and Offline do not need a sorting option, they are good as they are.

As I said, I think this doesn't make sense, because of the fact that a playlist is supposed to be an ordered list.

As the developer, you of course have the final say on what you implement and what you don't, but perhaps you will reconsider. We already have a sorting option for songs and a sorting option for playlists. So why not a sorting option within the playlists we create?

@siggi1984 that's exactly what im trying to say, Consider this, if you have playlist of 100s of songs how could you able to find a song that you needed if the playlist was not sorted by alphabet or artist wise .So it would be good to have sorting option inside playlist we created.If the playlist is not sorted it will be in custom order in which we added the song to the playlist

I would like to add my two cents. The way that ViMusic works is that playlists are more "set in stone" the way the user arranged it. Automatically changing the playlist and keeping track of the old order would probably make it an unintuitive hassle. I would suggest, since queues can be persisted by saving or adding to a playlist, to make queues sortable. They act as more of a disposable unit within the player and would be simpler and less frustrating to the user to make work as a sorted list. When a queue would get sorted, this couldn't be undone, but this is fine to the user as they can "whip up a queue" in seconds.

@dtomvan Yes! That is exactly what I'm trying to convey. Interesting idea for putting it in the queue. I don't know where we should put the sorting options in the queue though, any suggestions?

Sorting option near the "queue loop on" option in queue would be good.

I'd also like to have this feature, since playlists can get big and difficult to manage.

My idea of implementation of a sorting feature is more or less like this quick and dirty mockup I made. I did not bother editing the icons, but I'll explain better below.

• The filters are positioned below the playlist title, mimicking the "songs" section of the app, like @siggi1984 suggested
• The "enqueue" button gets moved on the bottom right corner, on top of the "shuffle" button, with a similar look
• The search bar is the exact same of the one found in the "songs" section, with same behaviour in case of overflow
• "Sort by Custom order" could be represented with a star icon, the handles on the right of the songs remain
• "Sort by title" has the same icon used now in the app (Aa), the handles on the right of the songs do not display with this filter
• "Sort by artist" has the generic user icon (the same used for "More from artist" in the menu that appears when long pressing a song), and order the artists like spotify does, the handles on the right of the songs do not display with this filter
• "Sort by album" has the vinyl disc icon (the same used for "Go to album" in the menu that appears when long pressing a song), and order the albums like spotify does, the handles on the right of the songs do not display with this filter
• The arrow used to switch between desc/asc order works like everywhere else in the app
• the three dot menu contains the pre cache button too
