ESPHome BLE sensor patterns 0.1.0
ESPHome BLE sensor patterns 0.1.0
First versioned source release of eight ESP32 reference configurations: generic
BLE scaffolding, Inkbird IBS-TH1, Xiaomi LYWSD03MMC, Xiaomi Mi Flora, and single/
multi-device JBD and Daly BMS examples. The release contains source archives.
It does not include credentials or ready-to-flash device images.
Changes
- Replace speculative/unavailable Xiaomi integrations with ESPHome's built-in
HHCCJCY01 and LYWSD03MMC components. Remove the custom Mi Flora decoder that
could access byte 14 after checking only for 13 bytes. - Correct Daly sensor names and generic template syntax; pin JBD and Daly
external components to exact source commits. - Compile all eight complete configurations with ESPHome 2025.11.0, using only
isolated synthetic credentials in CI. Add offline configuration/security
regression tests, contributor instructions and security reporting guidance.
Security
Every complete example requires its own Noise API encryption key. Unauthenticated
network OTA and HTTP management are disabled in the examples. MQTT examples are
intended for an isolated trusted network unless supported TLS is configured.
No source release or CI test qualifies the physical safety of a battery system.
Upgrade and installation
Use the tagged README and the relevant pattern's guide. Install the pinned
ESPHome toolchain, copy the appropriate secrets example to a private
secrets.yaml, and supply the actual Wi-Fi, broker, sensor MAC and bind-key values.
Generate a separate API key for each device with openssl rand -base64 32 and
configure the API client with that key. Keep these files out of version control.
Use trusted serial installation/update with ESPHome 2025.11.0. Encrypted network
OTA requires a separately reviewed toolchain/configuration upgrade; do not restore
unauthenticated OTA to avoid the migration. Removed unsupported Xiaomi
battery-voltage/firmware-version and Daly individual protection entities must no
longer be referenced by dashboards or automations. Supported measurement names
are preserved.
Validation and limits
All eight pinned ESPHome compile jobs passed in the
release-change validation run.
Offline tests validate staging isolation and the required security configuration.
Compilation proves that these examples build with the selected dependencies;
real sensor radio behavior, accuracy, battery behavior and physical installation
still require validation on the intended hardware. CI never flashes devices.
See the tagged CHANGELOG.md, README.md, CONTRIBUTING.md and SECURITY.md
for source, configuration, verification and vulnerability reporting instructions.
