v1.0.16 — White notification icon, spacing & autostart fixes

@6ebeng 6ebeng released this 02 Jul 11:43

Small fixes:

  • White notification icon — toast notifications now use a white-background Prowlarr tile so the logo stands out on the dark webOS toast.
  • Even button spacing — the action row now uses a clean uniform gap between buttons.
  • Autostart no longer greyed on rooted TVs — autostart availability is now detected via the Homebrew Channel (visible even from the jailed service context), so the button stays enabled on rooted TVs.

v1.0.15 — Manual version picker

Select version (manual downgrade / version pin)

Adds a Select version button that lets you install any official Prowlarr release from the picker — handy if the latest build has issues or compatibility problems on your TV.

  • New picker lists all upstream releases (newest first), marks the Installed and Latest builds, and is fully D-pad navigable.
  • Installs the chosen release from GitHub and restarts the server automatically.
  • Works for both stable (master) and develop builds; the correct 32-bit musl ARM asset is resolved per tag.

v1.0.14

  • Fixed Autostart button being greyed out on rooted TVs: rooted-TV detection now checks for the Homebrew Channel directory's existence instead of write permission (the status check runs in a jailed context and could not write to the root-owned init.d dir)
  • Evened out the spacing between the action buttons

v1.0.13

@6ebeng 6ebeng released this 02 Jul 10:31
  • Toast notification now shows the Prowlarr logo icon
  • Startup/autostart notification text now reads 'Prowlarr is running'
  • Reduced action button size so all buttons fit within the screen width

v1.0.12 - rooted + non-rooted TV support

@6ebeng 6ebeng released this 02 Jul 10:26

Prowlarr now works on both rooted and non-rooted (Developer Mode only) LG webOS TVs.

  • Core functionality (download, run, supervise Prowlarr on port 9696) works without root, using the writable /media/developer data dir.
  • The service now reports a 'canAutostart' capability. Persistent boot autostart requires the Homebrew Channel (rooted TV).
  • The Autostart button stays enabled on rooted TVs and is greyed out on non-rooted TVs (with an explanatory message) instead of silently failing.

Tested on webOS 4.10.0 (rooted).

v1.0.11 - old + new webOS compatibility

@6ebeng 6ebeng released this 02 Jul 09:34

Ensures the app works on both old and new webOS versions.

  • Verified all device-side JavaScript (service + frontend) is ES5-clean so it runs on the old Node.js 0.12 shipped by webOS 4.x, as well as newer runtimes.
  • The build auto-patches the webos-service module's ES6 rest params to ES5 (carried over from 1.0.10).
  • 'Open Web UI' now launches the native browser in a cross-version way (sends the URL under target/url/params for different firmwares) and falls back to in-app navigation if the browser launch fails.

Tested end-to-end on webOS 4.10.0 (LG 55SM8600) and webOS 5.x.

v1.0.10 - webOS 4.x compatibility

Choose a tag to compare

@6ebeng 6ebeng released this 02 Jul 09:29

Adds compatibility with older webOS 4.x TVs (e.g. LG 55SM8600, firmware 05.50.00, webOS 4.10.0).

Root cause: webOS 4.x ships Node.js 0.12, which cannot parse the ES6 rest-parameter syntax used by the bundled webos-service module, so the control service crashed on load and the app was stuck on 'checking...'.

Fix: the build now patches webos-service to ES5 (Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments)) so the service runs on old Node runtimes.

v1.0.9 - Fix web UI OOM crash

@6ebeng 6ebeng released this 30 Jun 05:54

Fixes an issue where opening the Prowlarr web interface inside the TV's container app would crash the background task due to WebOS memory limits. The Web UI now opens safely in the native WebOS Browser (instead of replacing the foreground app view).

v1.0.8 - Fix app not reopening from Home

@6ebeng 6ebeng released this 29 Jun 21:36

Set handlesRelaunch:false so webOS automatically brings the app to the foreground when its tile is tapped while it is backgrounded. Previously the app declared it would self-foreground (handlesRelaunch:true) but never called PalmSystem.activate(), so tapping the tile after pressing Home did nothing. Also calls PalmSystem.activate() defensively on webOSRelaunch.

v1.0.7 - Fix other apps hanging after Prowlarr

@6ebeng 6ebeng released this 29 Jun 21:24

Pause status polling and update checks when the app is backgrounded (Home pressed) and resume on foreground. Stops the WebView from forking prowlarr-run.sh status every 2s in the background, which prevented webOS from suspending Prowlarr cleanly and caused the next app launched (e.g. TorrServer) to hang.
