Notes

Clarify Versioning process The group determined that the following language will be added to revision history to describe how spec versioning is identified.

Versioning in the cmi5 specification in managed in the following manner:

  • Major Version – Stones (Sandstone, Quartz, etc.) – Major changes in functionality
  • Minor Version – Editions (1st edition, 2nd edition, etc.) – Minor changes in functionality.
  • Errata – Minor corrections that do not affect functionality are not versioned. See GitHub repository for specific revision history.

Issue #501 - rename "Learning Activity Provider (AP)"

The group determined that the best way to address this issue was to remove the AP definition as it is not referenced anywhere in the specification.

Issue #502 - LMSs with external LRSs not supported by cmi5?

The group determined that the best way to address this issue was to clarify the following definitions.

  • Learning Management System (LMS): A computer system that may include the capabilities to register learners, launch learning presentations, analyze and report learner performance, and track learners' progress. LMS launching, reporting, and tracking roles are the focus of the cmi5 specification. The LMS MUST be integrated with an LRS. In the remainder of this document the term “LMS” shall refer to an integrated entity of LMS and LRS.
  • Learning Records Store (LRS): As defined in the xAPI specification.
