Notes

CMI-5 Course Packaging

The group continued its discussion of content packaging and clarified discussions from the last (Dec 19th) meeting with regard to URL references.

Scenario #1 – Course structure XML contained in a ZIP file package.

  • AU’s with media contained in the ZIP file must have “relative” URL references to AU’s in the Course Structure XML.
  • AU’s with media OUTSIDE of the ZIP file must have fully qualified URL references to AU’s in the Course Structure XML.
  • The Course structure XML may contain a mix of fully qualified and relative URL’s

Scenario #2 – Course structure XML without a ZIP file package

  • All AU’s URL references must be fully qualified
  • The LMS may have path editing post import.

Henry Ryng provided the following references to the PKZIP file format specifications as possible ZIP file format references for Course Packaging:

https://www.pkware.com/support/zip-app-note

(this appears to be the best reference, but it is unclear if convers both ZIP32 and ZIP64

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zip_%28file_format%29

(this Wikipedia reference indicates that there may be an ISO specification reference. It is unclear if this can be used)

CMI-5 Course Structure Spec changes

Section 6.1 Course structure requirements

Change:

  1. The LMS should implement the export of the course data structure defined in section 7.

To:

  1. The LMS must implement the export of the course data structure defined in section 7.

CMI-5 Conformance Testing Procedures

The group discussed the need to create separate document to define how CMI-5 conformance will be tested (i.e. conformance testing procedures). This document would be distinct from the CMI-5 specification(s). This effort will help to validate the existing CMI-5 draft specifications and will serve as the basis for the design of CMI-5 conformance testing tools.
