Two-step verification (optional, VPS Manager → Account and security)
- Signing in also needs the 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password and so on), so a leaked password is not enough.
- To turn it on: enter the password, scan the QR code, confirm with one code.
- Each code works only once, and wrong codes count toward the sign-in limit. Changing the password keeps it on.
- Lost your phone? Run sudo vpssh reset-2fa on the server.
First-open help: step-by-step instructions for when the system stops the app the first time on Mac, Windows or Android. See the README FAQ.
Reporting security issues: report them privately through GitHub (see SECURITY.md). Issue templates and Discussions are now on.

Backup and restore (VPS Manager → Backup and restore)
- One click backs up conversations, settings, the machine list, the key used to reach your machines, model sources and the sign-in account, then downloads it to your computer.
- The file is encrypted with the admin password. Without it, nobody can open the backup, and that includes the AI's account on the server.
- Restore by uploading the file. vpssh checks every entry, saves the current data first, restarts and runs its self-check. If anything fails, the previous data comes back.
- It also works onto a new server. The new server keeps its own address, ports and certificate, and the key moves over, so your machines are reachable again without re-adding them. Sign in with the admin password from the time of the backup.
- When the page does not open: sudo vpssh restore <file>.
Update reminders: the desktop and Android apps check for new versions themselves and offer the right installer for your device.
Tests on every change: every push runs the full test suite, including checks against the real DSH and an Android build. A release is published only if they pass.

备份与恢复（「VPS 管理 → 备份与恢复」）
- 一键备份对话、设置、机器清单、管机器用的钥匙、模型来源、登录账号，并下载到自己电脑上。
- 文件用管理员密码加密，没有密码谁都打不开，服务器上 AI 用的账号也打不开。
- 恢复：上传备份文件。vpssh 会逐条核对备份内容，先把现在的数据留底，再重启、自检；失败了自动换回原来的数据。
- 可以恢复到新服务器：这台服务器的地址、端口、证书保持不变，钥匙跟着备份过来，原来那些机器不用重新添加就能连上。恢复后用备份时的管理员密码登录。
- 网页打不开时，可以在服务器上运行：sudo vpssh restore <文件>。
新版本提醒：桌面版、安卓 App 会自己检查新版本，有新版时给出适合这台设备的安装包。
每次改动都跑测试：每次推送都跑全部测试（包括用真的 DSH 核对、安卓编译），全部通过才发版。

Android app: use vpssh on your phone.
- On your computer, open VPS Manager → Phone & tablet; in the app, tap Scan to add and scan the QR code there. You can also add a server by its address.
- Keep several servers and switch between them; stay signed in; uploads and downloads work.
- With IP access the app trusts only that server's own certificate. The QR code carries its fingerprint, and the app refuses a server whose certificate doesn't match.
- Allow "install unknown apps" when you install the apk. Upgrade by installing the newer apk over it.
The server now publishes its own root certificate at /gate/ca, so the app can check it.

My commands: save the commands you use often under Common tasks in the left rail.
- Each command has a name, the command itself, a description, and an optional GitHub link.
- Click Run to run it in the conversation.
- Read-only commands show the result right away. A command that changes the server, or any command's first run, is shown first and runs when you send /vps-yes.
- Commands containing a password or key are refused when saving.
New conversation command: /vps-run <id> (without an id it lists your commands).

Fix: when another site on the server (e.g. dsh-vps) used a domain and vpssh was reached by IP (port 8443), the page could fail to open with a TLS error. This hit cloud servers whose public IP sits behind NAT. vpssh now has a certificate for that case too. The other site's configuration is not touched.
The desktop app accepts that certificate as well, still only if it comes from that server's own certificate authority.

修复：服务器上另一个网站（比如 dsh-vps）用域名、vpssh 用 IP（8443）访问时，页面可能直接打不开（TLS 报错）。公网 IP 在 NAT 后面的云主机会遇到。现在这种情况也有可用的证书，另一个网站的配置一字不动。

Network check-up (from dsh-vps-manager 0.6.8): the Network card on the status page, or /vps-netcheck. About 30 seconds, no tokens. It answers:
- Can the server be reached from China?
- Do ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini work?
- Which YouTube, Netflix and Disney+ region is it in?
- How clean is the IP?
+AI on status cards: sends that card's findings to the conversation for the AI to explain.
Account menu (bottom left):
- Check for updates / Update to x.y.z: upgrades the whole product.
- Restart: restarts DSH so plugins you installed take effect. The page reloads by itself.
Desktop app: Test login sits next to the login methods and lights up when you choose This computer's key.

Fix: about 1 in 200 generated "This computer's key" keys could not be used. Keys are now checked right after generation. A broken saved key is replaced: the page offers to generate a new one, and its public key needs to be added to the server again.
The server side is unchanged from 0.2.1.

The key list says what it means: these are keys on this computer. A server lets you in only if it already trusts one of them, so they won't open someone else's server.
Test login shows a clear result:
- green "You can log in", naming the key and why no password is needed;
- amber when the account can't get admin rights;
- red with the reason and what to do instead.

This computer's key finds the keys you already have and tries them in order:
- the key that worked for this server last time;
- the IdentityFile ~/.ssh/config gives this server;
- dsh_vps_ed25519 from dsh-vps-manager;
- id_ed25519, id_ecdsa, id_rsa;
- vpssh's own key, then ssh-agent.
  Keys with a passphrase are skipped. The page shows file names only; private keys never leave this computer.
Test login: checks whether you can get in, and with which key, before installing. If the server only accepts keys, the form switches to This computer's key.
The key that worked is remembered for each server and tried first next time.
The server side is unchanged from 0.2.1.

Desktop app: choose how to log in:
- Password.
- Private key: paste it or choose a .pem file; an optional passphrase is supported.
- This computer's key: generated in one click. Run the copyable one-liner once in your cloud provider's web console (or import the public key there); after that, no password is needed. Use this for servers with password login turned off.
Errors say what to do:
- "This server only accepts keys": the form switches to Private key.
- "The server does not accept this key": shows how to add it.
- The connection dropped before login: lists the usual causes (wrong IP or port, a fail2ban ban, a proxy or VPN).
"Back" keeps what you filled in. Passwords and keys are never kept.
The server side is unchanged from 0.2.1.
