Better analytics than GoogleCode.

Possible migration path:

  1. Convert SVN to GIT, while still on Google Code: https://code.google.com/p/support/wiki/ConvertingSvnToGit 2) Create a GitHub account
  2. Clone data from Google Code GIT into GitHub GIT

That sounds good. Any reason to wait a couple of days between steps? Or can we try for the whole thing in a single day (like next Tuesday)?

Let's do next Tuesday, all at once.

Here's a good set of instructions for maintaing history, and migrating usernames as well: http://john.albin.net/git/convert-subversion-to-git

Here are another set of instructions for migrating SVN to Git with history (for comparison): http://www.johnclarkemills.com/2011/01/01/migrate-from-svn-to-git-with-history/

And here are yet another set of instructions, but for migrating a single SVN repository into multiple Git repositories: http://daneomatic.com/2010/11/01/svn-to-multiple-git-repos/ It may make sense (in Git common usage) to convert Abjad into multiple repositories (mainline and experimental) and then to treat them as submodules of an umbrella repository.

Reading over all of these now.

We'll see how much of the migration we can do tomorrow.

And here's another, for understanding submodules: http://blog.jacius.info/git-submodule-cheat-sheet/

Repository migrated 2013-10-29.

Ticket will stay open until we migrate tracker content from Google to GitHub.

People have been writing scripts to handle automatically migrating issues between services: https://github.com/arthur-debert/google-code-issues-migrator
