Throughline 0.17.0
Install
macOS
Run this in Terminal. It picks the right build for your Mac, verifies its checksum and installs it in Applications:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AhmedNavaz/throughline/main/install.sh | shOr download the zip for your Mac:
| Mac | File |
|---|---|
| Apple Silicon (M1 and later) | Throughline-0.17.0-mac-apple-silicon.zip |
| Intel | Throughline-0.17.0-mac-intel.zip |
Unzip, move Throughline to Applications and open it. Use your own configured Claude Code or Codex CLI connection, or connect Gemini through Google Antigravity in Settings (Install Google connection, then Connect account). Local continuation needs Codex CLI, Ollama and a downloaded tool-capable model. See the setup guide in the repository for authentication and billing details.
The app is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open a browser download macOS says it cannot verify the developer. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once. If macOS instead says the app is damaged, run xattr -cr /Applications/Throughline.app and open it again.
Windows
Run this in PowerShell. It downloads the Windows build, verifies its checksum, installs it for your user account and adds it to the Start menu:
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AhmedNavaz/throughline/main/install.ps1 | iexOr download Throughline-0.17.0-windows-x64.zip, unzip it and open Throughline.exe in the Throughline folder. The app is not signed yet, so the first time you open a browser download Windows may say it protected your PC: click More info, then Run anyway. On Windows, connect Claude Code or the Codex CLI; installing the Google connection from Settings is not available on Windows yet. Updates install from inside the app on macOS; on Windows, run the installer again.
The private-link service for Ask a Friend is published as a container image: docker pull ghcr.io/ahmednavaz/throughline-sharing:0.17.0
What's new
Added
- Preferences in Settings: appearance, updates, voice and recaps now have their own tab beside Connections, which keeps the agent accounts.
- While you were away (#22): coming back after two minutes or more, a short recap shows, for each workspace, the runs that finished, stopped or are still working, the files they changed and whether they ran the tests, and what is waiting for you: approvals, handoff offers, usage-limit waits, queued prompts and uncommitted changes. It is put together from what Throughline recorded, with no agent call, can be read aloud, and opens at any time from the search bar.
- Voice (#11, macOS): press ⌥⌘V or the microphone beside Send and speak; what you say appears in the message box as it is heard, for you to review and send, and Esc cancels. Speech is recognized on your Mac by Throughline Speech, a small helper that ships with the app, using Apple's on-device recognition, so the audio never leaves your Mac. Send when I stop talking in Settings › Preferences › Voice sends after a three-second countdown that Esc cancels. When a run you started by voice finishes, a short summary of what it did is read aloud with your system's voice. It is put together from what the run recorded, so it costs no agent usage, and can be turned on for every run or off.
