v1.1.0 — Remember your gallery
Choose your preferred gallery once; future Pixel Camera previews open it directly.
- Native picker with icons, photo/video categories, and the current choice.
- Open the redirect app icon to change your gallery or select Ask every time.
- In Ask every time mode, camera selections apply only to the current preview.
- New installations and upgrades from v1.0.0 ask on the next camera preview.
- Compatible installed viewers include GrapheneOS Gallery, Aves, and Fossify.
- Separate photo/video activity resolution; fallback to the chosen app’s main screen, then the picker if unavailable.
- Choice stays in the current Android profile and does not change global defaults.
- Android 10+, no declared permissions or third-party runtime dependencies.
- Same signing key, supplied artwork, package/activity identity, and ISC attribution.
Install the attached APK as an in-place update. Complete any first-run setup required by your chosen gallery.
See VALIDATION.md in the release source for completed checks and remaining device scenarios. Download SHA256SUMS beside the APK and run sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS. SIGNING-CERTIFICATE.txt identifies the retained official certificate.
v1.0.0 — Your camera. Your gallery. One tap.
Pixel Camera’s photo thumbnail can now open GrapheneOS Gallery without Google Photos.
Install
Download pixel-gallery-redirect.apk below, open it on your phone, and keep GrapheneOS’s built-in Gallery enabled. Then tap the photo thumbnail in Pixel Camera. No setup or root required.
Included
- Photo/video URI forwarding and a fallback to Gallery home.
- Unlock required before opening Gallery.
- Custom launcher icon; approximately 833 KiB total APK size.
- No declared permissions, network connection, background service, or third-party runtime libraries.
- ISC license © 2026 Aleksandr Oreshkin.
Compatibility
Android 10+; currently targets GrapheneOS Gallery (com.android.gallery3d). Uses com.google.android.apps.photos, so uninstall Google Photos or another shim with that package ID before installing. Updates to the initial private build can install in place because the signing key is unchanged.
Build, APK signature, alignment, packaged icon, and initial device installation/intent resolution are verified. Full thumbnail, video, processing, and back-navigation checks remain pending; see VALIDATION.md.
Verify
Download SHA256SUMS beside the APK and run sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS. SIGNING-CERTIFICATE.txt contains the release certificate fingerprint for signature verification.
