Release list
Brume 2.4.0
Brume and Brume Ardoise 2.4.0. This release also includes 2.3.1.
Message list
- Sender address in Spam: in the Spam (Junk) folder only, the sender's address appears under their name, local part muted and domain in full weight, so you can sort junk at a glance. When an address is too long, its start fades out and the end of the domain stays visible; the full address is in the tooltip. Row height is unchanged. Wide list layout only (list mode, or a message list wider than 540pt).
- Sync button: a "Sync New Mail Now" capsule (thin circular arrow) at the top right of the window, same as F5. In list mode it sits at the end of the search bar; in split mode, at the top right before the sidebar toggle.
- Search field: now a glass lens, with a lit gradient rim, a soft inner glow and a diffuse shadow. Its edges line up with the list's selection pills. It lights up in the accent color when focused.
Sidebar
- Thin-line icons: every sidebar icon is redrawn in the theme's thin-stroke style, at full box size: inbox, unread, starred, snoozed, reminders, sent, drafts, spam, trash, archive, important, folders, labels, activity and contacts. The same icons show in the "Move to" menu.
Accessibility
- Increase contrast: the search field gets a solid border and a plain background, and Spam addresses use a stronger gray.
Install or update
- Download
brume.zipand/orbrume-ardoise.zipbelow and unzip. - In Mailspring: Mailspring > Install Theme..., then select the
brumeorbrume-ardoisefolder. - Quit Mailspring completely (Cmd+Q) and relaunch it.
Brume 2.3.0
Icons
- About fifty of Mailspring's icons are redrawn in one thin-stroke style, sized and centered on a single grid: reply, reply all, forward, spam / not spam, read / unread, move to folder, sidebar, print, expand / collapse, pop out, attachments, read receipts, link tracking, signature, templates, search, and the thread list status icons and hover actions.
- Formatting bar: Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough in the system font; link, quote, code, lists, emoji and text size as thin icons.
- Empty folders use matching illustrations; Inbox Zero shows a calm check instead of the colorful animation.
Composer
- Action bar buttons are centered (icons sat 1.5pt low) and icon-only buttons are round, with a small gap so active options no longer touch.
- Quoted text is a calm gray with a soft accent bar instead of purple.
- The From, signature and recipient suggestion menus open above the formatting bubble instead of behind it.
- The Send menu opens fully above the button, its icons are visible again, and the empty menu of a new message no longer shows a blank bubble.
- Grammar suggestions, send later, time picker, emoji tabs and inline images (resize handle, file name) match the theme.
Reading pane
- Read receipts: "2 opens" is a capsule that opens a clean "Opened by" list; link clicks get the same list.
- Calendar invitations: a single card with tinted Accept / Maybe / Decline capsules.
- Phishing, reminder and translation banners use the theme palette.
- Find in thread (Cmd+F) is a capsule search field with round buttons.
- Attachments: one card per file, thumbnail clipped to the card, round preview / download / remove buttons.
- The "show quoted text" button is a small capsule; contact avatars are round.
Message list
- Snoozed label, reminder rows and the Gmail "important" marker use the theme colors.
- The main search uses the theme's magnifier, clear button and spinner.
Preferences and windows
- Account, signature, template and rule lists are single cards with pastel selection, with detached detail panels.
- Account errors, subscription, folders, MCP, the theme picker and the Pro-feature windows match the theme.
Fixes
- Popups of the composer header were hidden behind the formatting bubble.
- Clicking and dragging across two rows of the list could clear the selection.
- Icons of the Send menu were white on white.
Accessibility
- New floating layers respect Reduce transparency and Increase contrast.
- Text meets WCAG AA and icon controls 3:1 in both themes.
Updating
- Replace the
brumeandbrume-ardoisefolders, then quit Mailspring completely (Cmd+Q) and relaunch it: Mailspring keeps a preloaded composer window that only picks up themes on restart.
Brume 2.2.0
- Reading pane: sender, date, reply and Unsubscribe on one line; a chevron opens a clean details sheet (recipients, subject, folders).
- Unsubscribe is a real button.
- Composer: the formatting bar is a floating bubble that stays in view while scrolling, without jumping.
- "Checking for mail" becomes a card with a thin spinner.
- Click to deselect: clicking the empty area of the list closes the open message and clears the selection; clicking elsewhere removes the keyboard cursor frame. This is the only behavior that needs code (lib/main.js, loaded with the theme).
- Gray star on hover to follow a thread; visible hover on toolbar buttons and multi-selection actions.
- Rounded native select boxes, cleaner popover menus, thinner next/previous arrows.
- Fixes: unreadable preferences tabs in Brume Ardoise, misaligned trash icon in inline replies, notification buttons, low-contrast texts (all text now meets WCAG AA).
Brume 2.1.2
