Cursor size not updating

I have sight issues and normally increase the size of the mouse cursor in Accessibility settings to make it easier to see. No matter what size I choose it does not change.

I have tried via

• Settings > Accessibility > Seeing > Cursor Size
• dconf editor - /org/gnome/desktop/interface/cursor-size
• command line - dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/interface/cursor-size 100

Having no idea why. Can you try switching between X11 and Wayland?

Looks like an X11 issue. Wayland shows the right size. Unfortunately I am stuck with X11 for my work app

This issue might be from Gnome Shell itself. However, AFAIK, Gnome shell only prioritize issues with Wayland. And they even deleted the unit tests for X11. This issue might nolonger can be fixed.

Can you try switching the work app to Wayland? What's the work app? Is there any other workaround?

I found a workaround. Looks like different cursor themes have different support for different sizes. While the fluent theme you default to has no support the gnome default Adwaita has support for the first 3 sizes which is enough for me.
