Official Documentation & User Guides for The Sims 4

Welcome to the official Better Control Wiki!

Better Control is a mod designed to let you temporarily control non-household Sims in a stable, immersive and lore-friendly way, whilst remaining as faithful as possible to EA/Maxis' native gameplay systems.

Whether you're looking to manage Sim autonomy, explore optional behaviour systems or simply understand how everything works, this Wiki is here to help you get the most out of Better Control.

Optional Behaviour Systems

Better Control also supports optional modules that introduce additional gameplay behaviours and configuration options.

Autonomous Dance Behaviour

Let eligible Sims dance autonomously, with adjustable intensity settings to suit your preferred style of gameplay.

  • Four intensity levels: Weak, Normal, Strong and Extreme.
  • Supports autonomous household Sims and non-household Sims.
  • Configuration menu accessible by clicking on a door or gate.

WickedWhims Integration — Experimental Beta

An optional integration designed to provide additional control over WickedWhims' autonomy settings.

  • Enable or disable global WickedWhims autonomy.
  • Adjust autonomy intensity.
  • Configure an optional NPC-only autonomy mode.
  • Access the configuration menu by clicking on a sofa.

This integration is experimental and was developed and tested with WickedWhims v185k.

Important — Installation & Dependencies

Better Control v1.2 or newer is required for the optional behaviour modules described here.

Optional modules are not standalone mods. They rely on Better Control's main .ts4script file and must be installed alongside a compatible version.

You do not need to install any optional modules to enjoy Better Control's core features.

Development & Feedback

Better Control is an evolving project, shaped by experimentation, technical improvements and community feedback.

My goal is to expand gameplay possibilities without unnecessarily disrupting the systems that make The Sims 4 work.

If you encounter an issue, have an idea for a new behaviour system or simply wish to share your experience, you're always welcome to get in touch.

Thank you for your interest in Better Control and for supporting its development!
