How to install Ruby (Ubuntu 16.04)

To run this project you need to have Ruby 2.2.3 installed.

To do so we recommend using rbenv.
The procedure to install it is pretty straight forward.

1- First of all make sure you have git installed :

sudo apt-get install git

2- Then we're going to go to your personal folder and install rbenv from its git repository

cd

git clone git://github.com/sstephenson/rbenv.git .rbenv

echo 'export PATH="$HOME/.rbenv/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.bash_profile

echo 'eval "$(rbenv init -)"' >> ~/.bash_profile

3- After that we install the ruby-build plugin for rbenv which is going to allow us to install ruby versions with rbenv.

git clone git://github.com/sstephenson/ruby-build.git ~/.rbenv/plugins/ruby-build

source ~/.bash_profile

4- Now we use it to install ruby 2.2.3.

rbenv install 2.2.3

rbenv rehash

5- Checking if everything is correctly installed.

ruby --version # Should display something starting with ruby 2.2.3p
