I guess the 'in next release,' and 'I'll see what I can come up with' comment gave me hope that something was happening here. |
@dustymc @mkoo try logging in without a password manager. I also support the ability to bypass the requirement of an additional click to acknowledge the build up of new notifications, and to acknowledge all the collections who are missing data quality contacts. We should have the option of getting a periodic email notification about these, rather than having it be required to click past on every login. Also, I believe there is a request to get rid of this? If not, then we need to add the means of logging in as an operator to that box, rather than requiring users with existing logins to mouse over to the top right of the page to select login or create account. What DOES this do? |
Stale issue-- some of this might be mitigated with open-auth or other login security steps but cannot consider probably until we have additional sysadmin help (probably). closing for now |
Logging in is a frustrating mouse-intensive endeavor that surely can be streamlined.
Once I'm on the site https://arctos.database.museum/search.cfm
Click Log In/Create Account
Suggestion 1:Put the cursor in the username box instead of having to click on username box
You have successfully logged in - click here to continue
Suggestion 2: Why can't I just be taken to the search page? It's not clear what function this box serves
Suggestion 3:Put the 594 unread notifications in a bar at the top of the page or something.
Suggestion 4: When timed out, add an option to the dropdown from 'username [NOW]' to log back in, rather than having to reload and get to the above URL or clicking on search and getting there. Not even asking for a login and retain your work feature, just be able to login from one click on a timed out tab.
With this functionality, one has to click once to log in, then tab once between username and password, hit the enter key and they're in.
re-login? one click, tab once between username and password, and enter. Done. Hands stay on the home row more and everything is faster and less annoying.
