Accounts

  • usagemax takes the account from the chat's environment, which Claude Desktop sets for every chat. .claude.json could lag days behind the desktop's account
  • Each request carries its account, so a chat that moved to another account splits between the two. Older requests follow the limits they saw

Shares

  • A share never goes above how far the counter grew during the request, plus one point
  • Switching accounts no longer counts as limit growth
  • The line under an answer shows cache reads apart: 22K Tok · 9.8M cached

Panel

  • 5-hour limit and Weekly limit blocks: used in orange, left in green, the time that passed and the time to reset
  • This chat's share reads "of the 5-hour limit"
  • The 5-hour headline and the Limits block are gone: the two blocks show the same numbers

Accounts

  • Each Claude account keeps its own statistics. Chats of another account stay out of the panel, the band and the commands
  • The panel shows the signed-in email under the title
  • Chats recorded before 0.5.7 go to the first account usagemax sees after the update

Panel

  • Reset statistics at the bottom: press it twice and this account's numbers start over. The rate stays, so shares stay accurate

Band above the prompt

  • The whole band lights up while the pointer is over it, so it reads as one button

Band above the prompt

  • A click anywhere on the band works again after a hiccup: one fault of the band module used to leave only the chip pressable until Claude Desktop restarted. The band now retries the module after a minute
  • The last fault is written to ~/.claude/usagemax/band-fault.json

The Update button finds new versions

  • Claude Code compares against its own copy of this repository and, for a third-party marketplace, refreshes it only with auto-update on. usagemax now refreshes that copy itself: a few seconds after a chat starts, at most once an hour, with git fetch
  • A toast says once per version that a new one is out: press Update in Settings → Your plugins → Usagemax
  • A plugin added from a local folder is left alone. "selfUpdate": false in settings.json turns the check off

Getting this version from 0.5.3 or older

Older versions lack the refresh, so run once:

claude plugin marketplace update usagemax
claude plugin update usagemax@usagemax

Language

  • English by default. Russian only when Claude Code's language setting is Russian. Before, an unset language fell back to Russian

Update

  • Turn on auto-update once: run claude, type /plugin, open Marketplaces, select usagemax, then Enable auto-update. Or update by hand: claude plugin update usagemax@usagemax

Band above the prompt

  • Stays on one row in a narrow window: it shortens the estimates to ▲ ≈18:14, then drops the times to reset, then the bars. Words no longer break letter by letter
  • No run-out estimate right after a reset: the 5-hour window needs 15 minutes of readings, the week 6 hours, and the week's pace is taken over a day

A Claude Code plugin for the Code tab of Claude Desktop: what each request and each chat used of the Claude 5-hour window and weekly limit.

Band above the prompt

  • An orange chip with this chat's share of the 5-hour window
  • The 5-hour window and the week, each with a bar, the percent used and the time to reset
  • ▲ runs out ≈18:11 when a limit's pace would use it up before its reset: the 5-hour window from its last 30 minutes, the week from its last day
  • A click anywhere on the band opens the panel; the band refreshes every minute

Also

  • A usage line under every answer: ◑ Used: +5.2%/+0.43% 121K Tok
  • A panel with limits, pace, a 7-day trend, an hour heatmap, models and the top chats
  • Toasts near the limits and for a chat that eats the window
