Linux next to Windows, without a USB stick. This is the first full release, and it's built from what people asked for.

New

• More systems: Fedora Workstation, Ultramarine, Arch Linux, Omarchy 4.0, CachyOS, Debian and Zorin OS. Debian and CachyOS haven't finished a test install yet, so tell me how they go.
• Install where there's room: shrink another drive such as D:, use free space, or use a second internal disk. Debian, CachyOS, Linux Mint and Zorin OS can't go on a second disk yet.
• Make room: when a drive has free space Windows can't release, one click clears what's in the way and puts your settings back afterwards.
• Replace Windows: for 13 systems, if you type ERASE. hop makes the installer, and the Linux installer does the erasing when you tell it to. Undo works until then.

Fixed

• Linux Mint and Zorin OS: the steps in earlier builds were wrong, and they're now rewritten. Their installer also replaces the fallback loader \EFI\Boot\bootx64.efi on Windows' EFI partition, and Undo doesn't put it back.
• Security: hop's folder in %ProgramData% wasn't protected, so another user on the PC could leave files there for hop to act on. Please update if you're on an earlier version.
• Clean up could delete a Linux partition it couldn't read.
• Make room could leave hibernation off, and could get stuck behind a permission prompt.
• Ubuntu-based systems could take the space set aside for Linux, so the installer had nowhere to install.

How much this has been tested

hop ran on a real Windows 11 in a virtual machine for Make room, install then Undo, and its safety checks. Full Linux installs ran in virtual machines with a stand-in for Windows. No physical PC has run this version, so back up anything you can't lose first. Bug reports from inside hop help a lot.

Before you start

Secure Boot has to be off for CachyOS, Arch, Omarchy and Pop!_OS. Omarchy also needs BitLocker fully off. Windows may warn because hop isn't code-signed yet: click More info → Run anyway.
