Some users run into issues while applying their settings. Only an error message is shown and the theme switch can not be enabled.

In Auto Dark Mode Version 2.3 the error messages got much more detailed. Please post a screenshot of your error message under this issue. Don't forget to add some information about your setup, like Windows version. This helps me to resolve this problem in a future update.

Thank you.

EDIT:

If you use Windows LTSC or LTSB, please see this post.

LTSC 2019 is based on 1809, but you need 1903 to enable system theme switch. Sorry!

Hello,

I know why the error occurs on LTSC and I fixed it. But I don't know if I should push this fix to the release version. Because it doesn't make any sense to use Auto Dark Mode on LTSC. It has no advantages (because no Apps). And Explorer switch is buggy on LTSC, Microsoft will never fix it, because it's LTSC.

I still put the installer with the fixed .exe on the attachments of this post. But don't expect a good working file explorer theme switch.

Have Windows 1909 installed. The normal release version works with my original user account without problems. Later added another account which was first as a Standard User, later changed to Admin. On that 2nd account the release version fail to work with the error message discussed in this thread. But the fixed version works fine.

The official version also contains the fix. But it contains different task scheduler name. Maybe it's not possible for 2 user accounts.

Will be fixed in 3.0 anyways.

Hi! There seems to be an error like the ones commented above, but mine only occurs when I use the program in other user, unless I run the program as administrator, even though it already is an administrators accounts. BTW, I use Windows Home.

at #112 someone had the same issue and fixed it with a registry tweak. would you try it?

"I went to regedit and i went to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Schedule] and I changed the "Start" reg file to the value hexadecimal 2, instead of 4. And that solved it."
