Wave Terminal (Atreus) v0.17.8

@Atreus-X Atreus-X released this 29 Oct 18:43

Electron 42, two small fixes and a round of library updates.

  • Electron 42 - The app now runs on Electron 42 instead of 41. Seven open security advisories against Electron (one of them rated high) were fixed only in 42, and there is no patched 41 release. Windows and Linux builds only, as before. Building from source now needs npx install-electron --no after npm install, because Electron 42 no longer downloads its binary during install
  • Usage meter - On a slow remote host the agent usage meter could start a second scan on top of one still running, and a timeout replaced the whole meter with a warning triangle and a raw error. It now skips a refresh while one is running, keeps showing the last result with a small warning mark when a refresh fails, and the popover says how old the shown result is
  • Transfer progress card - The upload and download progress card in the file browser has a solid background, so file rows no longer show through its text
  • Updated libraries - @ai-sdk/react, @tanstack/react-virtual, overlayscrollbars-react, zod, body-parser, launch-editor, undici, fast-uri, typescript-eslint, and the Go modules launchdarkly/eventsource and Microsoft/go-winio

A privacy fix for the Linux installers. No feature changes.

  • Linux builds no longer carry the builder's paths - The Linux server binary (wavesrv) in the AppImage and deb from v0.15.1 to v0.17.6 contained the build machine's home directory and login name in its embedded debug information. They are gone from this release, and the release script now stops the build if any shipped file contains them. The Windows installers were not affected by this. Please move to this version and do not keep the older Linux packages; they have been withdrawn from the downloads
  • Release builds - A rare failure where the build cleaned its output folder while go mod tidy was still reading it is fixed

Installers withdrawn. Removed from this release's downloads: The Linux installers (AppImage and deb). The build contained build-machine paths in its embedded debug information. Please use the latest release instead. The release notes below are unchanged.

Security fixes and a round of dependency updates. No feature changes.

  • Security - Patched versions of dompurify (used by the Markdown preview, the editor and Mermaid diagrams), sharp, tinypool and postcss-selector-parser are now forced, closing 25 open advisories, one of them critical. The critical and most of the others were in documentation-build tooling; the dompurify fixes also reach the app
  • Updated libraries - jotai 2.9 to 2.20, the Vercel AI SDK, @tanstack/react-virtual, @table-nav, uuid, vite, vitest, prettier, typescript-eslint, node-abi, and the Go modules google.golang.org/api, golang.org/x/mod and golang.org/x/term and fzf

A compact Host Inspector Overview that summarizes the other tabs and fits the block.

  • Compact Overview - The Host Inspector's Overview tab no longer repeats CPU, memory, load and uptime, which the strip above it already shows. It is now a grid of small cards: System (CPU model, kernel, virtualization, swap, sessions), Disks (one line per mount), Processes (top five by CPU), Network (default route and the busiest real interfaces), Ports (listening versus reachable from the network), Services (failed units) and Docker (problem containers). Each card has a "View all" link to its full tab, and the Host note stays at the bottom
  • Fits the block - The Overview reflows to the block's width with no sideways scroll, side by side in a wide block and stacked in a narrow one. The other tabs still scroll sideways below about 480px
  • The Overview refreshes every section while it is open, so its summaries stay live

Host alerts in the Host Inspector, on connection chips and in the Fleet block, sortable Host Inspector tables, and tickable checkboxes in markdown previews.

  • Host Alerts - A bell in the Host Inspector header lists what needs attention on the host: disks and memory nearly full, high load, failed services, and crashed or unhealthy containers. Click an alert to jump to its tab, dismiss it until it clears and returns, or ignore it permanently (an "Ignored (N)" list under the alerts lets you stop ignoring)
  • Alerts Everywhere - Connection chips and the Fleet block show a bell with the host's disk, memory and load alerts; clicking the chip's bell opens the Host Inspector
  • Alert Notifications - A desktop notification appears when a connected host raises a new critical alert while Wave isn't the focused window. One per host per batch, never repeated for an alert that stays active. Turn it off with conn:notifyalerts or in Settings
  • Sortable Tables - Click a column header in the Network, Ports, Processes, Services and Docker tabs to sort (numbers high to low first, text A to Z first, a third click restores the default order). The Overview disks list has sort buttons too
  • Checklist Previews - Task-list checkboxes in a markdown file's preview are clickable and write the change back to the file, locally, over SSH and over wsh. If the file changed on disk since you opened it, the click is dropped and the newer version shown instead of overwriting it
  • Table header rows in the Host Inspector and the Fleet block are opaque, so rows no longer show through them while scrolling

@Atreus-X Atreus-X released this 05 Oct 19:40

Installers withdrawn. Removed from this release's downloads: The Linux installers (AppImage and deb). The build contained build-machine paths in its embedded debug information. Please use the latest release instead. The release notes below are unchanged.

An editable path bar with autocomplete, cancellable transfers with progress, an open chooser for files with no preview, and several remote-edit and layout fixes.

  • Editable Path - Click the path in a file or folder view to edit it and press Enter to go there. In folder views the path sits on its own row above the column names. A path that doesn't exist now shows an error instead of creating a file, and typing in the path bar no longer opens the folder search
  • Path Autocomplete - Typing a path suggests matching folders and files (arrow keys, Tab and Enter to accept, Escape to close), on local, wsh and plain-SSH hosts
  • Transfer Cancel and Progress - Uploads, downloads, Download as Zip, drag-and-drop copies and open-in-external now show a progress card with speed and time remaining, and an ✕ cancels the transfer and cleans up the partial file
  • Open Chooser - Files with no preview, and files over the preview size limit, offer Open as Text, Default Application, your external editor and Open With... instead of a dead end
  • Edit/Save/Preview Row - In file views the Edit, Save and Preview buttons sit on their own line under the header instead of sharing a row with the header icons
  • Header Icons Wrap - Block header icons wrap onto extra rows when a block is too narrow, instead of being clipped
  • Library - The Snippets and Notes tabs can hide and show their list pane to give the editor the full width
  • Open File Shortcut - Ctrl+O also opens the Open File popup in file views; on Windows and Linux the existing shortcut is Alt+O (the letter), while Alt+0 (zero) focuses Wave AI
  • Version in the Tab Bar - The app version now shows to the left of the usage meter
  • A CSV with an empty header cell no longer crashes the block
  • Remote files edited in an external editor now upload on save more reliably, and reopening a remote file always shows the latest remote content
  • [deps] Dependency roll-up: React DOM pinned to match React, ai and @ai-sdk/react, undici, mermaid, postcss, shell-quote, dompurify and Monaco held at 0.55.x; Dependabot limits tightened
  • [build] Synced with upstream Wave: slow dev renderer startup is now recoverable

Installers withdrawn. Removed from this release's downloads: The Linux installers (AppImage and deb). The build contained build-machine paths in its embedded debug information. Please use the latest release instead. The release notes below are unchanged.

Update settings in the settings GUI that apply without a restart, and a fix for stuck update checks.

  • Update Settings - The settings GUI now has the update channel and check interval next to the update source, enabled and install-on-quit options
  • Applied Live - Changing the update settings in the app takes effect on the next check without restarting; turning auto-check off now actually stops it, and turning it on works too
  • Update Checks - With the Atreus update source, a stale or hand-edited channel such as main no longer makes every check fail; the channel only matters for the official Wave source
  • Restart Badges - Settings that don't apply immediately now say so in the settings GUI: "Restart required" (Transparent window, Show menu bar, Reconnect automatically) or "Reopen terminals" (Scrollback lines, Disable WebGL)
  • A select setting holding an unknown value now shows it as "(unrecognized)" instead of the first option
  • [build] Synced with upstream Wave: TestDriver.ai removed, Go 1.26.8, and svgo and fast-uri bumps

Double-click opens text files in a preview, a Host Inspector that fits its block, and update-channel and build fixes.

  • Double-click Previews Text Files - Double-clicking a text file in the file browser now opens a preview in a new block (works on local, wsh and plain-SSH hosts); other files still open in the OS default application and folders still open in the file browser. New default "auto" for preview:doubleclickopen; "external" and "preview" behave as before
  • Host Inspector - The tables now shrink to the block's width instead of scrolling sideways, until the block gets very narrow
  • Updates - A beta install can switch to the latest channel and check for updates without restarting, and keeps the channel you chose
  • [deps] Electron 41.10.6 and security bumps to brace-expansion, ip-address and fast-uri; Dependabot now also watches the tsunami Go module
  • [build] Release binaries no longer embed the builder's home directory, and release builds always rebuild the Go binaries so a stale cache can't ship an installer without wsh

Usage meters, a tidier Host Inspector and Library, and progress you can see when moving files.

  • Agent Usage Meter - An AI agent usage meter in the tab bar, with an SFTP fallback for hosts without wsh
  • Scrollbar Size - New app:scrollbarsize setting, and terminals get visible scrollbars
  • File Browser - Downloads and uploads show a progress bar at the bottom left of the block, and the right-click menu has Upload Files...
  • Host Inspector - A collapsible icon-only sidebar with a resizable divider, and a narrow inspector now scrolls sideways
  • Library - Rename a note's title and description; list bullets and numbered lists no longer clip or lose their numbers; toggling a checkbox keeps your scroll position; PageUp/PageDown in the note editor no longer scrolls the whole block off screen; a stale error message clears when you switch notes
  • Plain-SSH Hosts - cmd blocks now run on hosts without wsh
  • Pinned Blocks - Splitting from a pinned right-edge block now lands to its left
  • Fixed the Library Insert button looping on focus
  • [build] scripts/atreus-check.sh gates local builds, and the dev-only preview mocks type-check cleanly

Bigger transfers, safer tab closing, and a friendlier file browser and Library.

  • File Browser - Select several files and folders at once and Download as Zip. Uploads and cross-host copies now stream, so the 32 MB limit is gone and folders work on SFTP hosts
  • Open Remote Files - Files over 32 MB now open in external apps, remote .exe/installer files open correctly, and a progress indicator shows while a remote file downloads
  • Safer Tab Closing - Closing a tab whose terminals are running something asks first and ends its tmux sessions (tab:confirmcloserunning, on by default)
  • tmux on wsh Connections - term:tmux and term:reconnectcmd now also apply to connections that use wsh
  • Library - Swappable Snippets/Notes tabs (library:taborder), resizable list dividers, and checkboxes plus a formatting toolbar in notes
  • Pin Block Size - Pin a block's size so it holds as the window is resized
  • Scrollbars - Visible scrollbars in the Host Inspector, Fleet and Library blocks
  • [build] Release script gained --windows-only test builds, and build-only runs no longer fail on feed files
