Bangladesh Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (BDOAA) is a non-profit organization that organizes the regional and national olympiads on astronomy and astrophysics (A&A), hosts the national A&A camp in Bangladesh, and sends students to the International Olympiad on A&A (IOAA). BDOAA is the most prestigious competition on A&A in Bangladesh for school and college students and IOAA is the most prestigious international competition on A&A for students up to the age of eighteen. IOAA has been held annually since 2007 and BDOAA has been sending students to the olympiad every year since 2018. BDOAA also organizes workshops, gives career guidance to aspiring astronomers, and hosts events for the popularization of A&A.

২০১৮ সালের ৮ই ফেব্রুয়ারি IOAA এর অনুমতিতে বাংলাদেশের জন্য দল নির্বাচনের জন্য জাতীয় অলিম্পিয়াড কতৃপক্ষ হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি পায় Bangladesh Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics Committee (BDOAAC)। এই কমিটির সদস্যরা অনেকে প্রাক্তন জাতীয়, আন্তর্জাতিক অলিম্পিয়াডে অংশগ্রহণকারী শিক্ষার্থী যারা অনেকেই জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানে উচ্চ শিক্ষা লাভ করছে। সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে আছেন মহাকাশ বিজ্ঞানপ্রেমী অনেক কর্মী ও অভিজ্ঞ ছাত্র-শিক্ষকমন্ডলী। এই কমিটির আয়োজনে প্রথম বছরেই ১০ টি আঞ্চলিক প্রতিযোগিতায় প্রায় হাজারখানেক উৎসাহী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীর অংশগ্রহণ করে যাদের মধ্যে ১২০ জন চূড়ান্ত প্রতিযোগীকে ঢাকার জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে অংশ নেয় জাতীয় পর্ব। জাতীয় পর্বে বাছাই করে ক্যাম্পে চূড়ান্ত ৫ জন এবং ২ জন দল নেতা নিয়ে ১২তম আন্তর্জাতিক জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞান ও জ্যোতিঃপদার্থবিজ্ঞান অলিম্পিয়াডে চায়নার বেইজিং বাংলাদেশ দল অংশগ্রহণ করে। সেইবছর বাংলাদেশের ফলাফল ছিল সামগ্রিক ভাবে উন্নত যেখানে ৪ জন প্রতিযোগীর প্রত্যেকে ৪০% এর এর বেশি নম্বর পেয়েছিল এবং ১ জন প্রতিযোগী বিশেষ সম্মাননা পুরষ্কার লাভ করে। এটি ছিল প্রথম বার অংশগ্রহণ হিসেবে বাংলাদেশ জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞান ও জ্যোতিঃপদার্থবিজ্ঞান অলিম্পিয়াড এর অভাবনীয় সাফল্য।

Global e-Competition on Astronomy and Astrophysics 2020 এ প্রথমবারের মত (অনালাইনে) পদকজয় করে BDOAA নির্বাচিত দল। দলের নেতৃত্বে ছিলেন ফাহিম রাজিত হোসেন, মোঃ মাহমুদুন্নবী এবং অর্ণব চৌধুরী। বাংলাদেশ দল GeCAA তে ২ টি রৌপ্যপদক 🥈, ৩ টি ব্রোঞ্জ পদক 🥉 এবং ১ টি অনারেবল মেনশন 🏅 পেয়েছে সাথে বাংলাদেশ দলের আরেক সদস্য গ্রুপ কম্পিটিশনে বেস্ট গ্রুপ এর ১ম পুরষ্কার 🏆 পেয়েছে। জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানের অঙ্গনে এটি বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম সাফল্য।

২০২৩ সালের ১৬তম আন্তর্জাতিক আসরে বাংলাদেশ দল প্রথম বারের মত রৌপ্য পদক অর্জন করে। দলের নেতৃত্বে ছিলেন ফাহিম রাজিত হোসেন। ২টি রৌপ 🥈🥈 এবং একটি ব্রোঞ্জ 🥉 পদকের মাধ্যমে ২০২৩ সালে বাংলাদেশ দল সবচেয়ে ভাল ফলাফল করেছে বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসে!

The academic team members of BDOAA are extremely motivated students and teachers who are experienced in the Astronomy Olympiad (past participants of national and international Olympiads) and Astronomy in general. This team includes academic coordinators, a coaching team, test writers, and graders who will oversee the academic responsibilities of BDOAA during an academic year.
