FS22_RainPain/main.lua:1102: attempt to index field 'fieldWorkTask' (a nil value) #1
Comments
Hi,
Can I check please which version of Rain Pain you are using and what tools
you were using when the error occurred?
Are you able to repeat anything you did to make the error?

Good Morning,
I am using Rain Pain Version 1.0.0.4 (per the moddesc)
I am using the mod "FS22_JohnDeere_9RX_2022" tractor and the "FS22_Brent_Avalanche_2596_PC" grain cart.
Here is a link to both items:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!Au4yyFP98enUs4U7gO1tfKo2glxa9A?e=gj511U
I am able to repeat the crash every time I start the grain cart in courseplay. I was able to run the combines in the field after the crash, and also had other tractors running courseplay in other fields as well (all worked great). But as soon as I tried to start that tractor again, it crashed.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help, I love your Mod!!!
Thanks,
Jacob

OK,
I've not even used Courseplay before, but I've come across this kind of
error before. I've added some error trapping code which should prevent the
crash you've been experiencing.
Can you please test the attached version? You *might* need to rename the
file to FS22_RainPain, I can't recall how precise the file naming needs to
be.
Let me know if it works.

Update on the HOTFIX-
Finally got to play a little today, and there are no errors....... But now the ground is always "perfectly dry." I have had rain for about 2 hours in game and every field is still showing dry. I will keep you updated if it changes as I keep going.
Thank you for all you do-
Jake

How weird! The error checks I added shouldn't have altered that, which
makes me wonder if it wasn't working properly before the hotfix.
Honestly, clashes with other mods are the hardest problems to solve!
I'm going to work on adding a debug mechanism to Rain Pain. It'll litter
the log file with entries, but it will help us narrow down the problem.
Might be later this week as I'm pretty busy at the moment.

the ground is always "perfectly dry." I have had rain for about 2 hours in
game and every field is still showing dry. I will keep you updated if it
changes as I keep going.
Thank you for all you do-
Jake

I thought I had shared it, though I guess some email programs hide zip
files?
I've attached it to this email and, if that fails, here's a link you can
download it from, too.

Another update,
I keep playing with it to see what is causing the issues, and now it is possible that the MOD "HAND PLANT SAPLINGS" was the issue. I removed this mod and we are now "working". When you run a plow, it does take damage, but now at least it is doing what it is supposed to do. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!

Glad you've managed to find the mod that was clashing with it.
I'm attaching a debugging version. Like before, you'll need to remove the
old Rain Pain version and replace it with this one, making sure to change
the name to remove "DEBUG" from the filename. This will dump loads of extra
info in the log file, once it's running I suggest you go over to some field
when it's raining, see if it still says it's dry, and let the log file add
up some data, then send me a copy of the log file please.
If it hasn't arrived in this email (some email programs remove zip files as
attachments) then you can also download it by CLICKING HERE
<https://1drv.ms/u/s!Artr_I1BTbffg-tbz6_fkEOh23j43g?e=g0cqFW>
Later, if you ever want to stop the debugging from happening, there's a
line early on in the code that says:
*local RainPain.DB = true*
just edit it so it says
*local RainPain.DB = false*
Hope that all makes sense!

Barry,
My log is showing this:
2023-11-28 07:51 Load mod: RainPain
2023-11-28 07:51 Error: D:/ONEDRIVE/@ FARM SIM/@ FS22/@ MODS/RainPain/main.lua:24: unexpected symbol near '.'
And the mod isn't loading-- FYI

Glad you've managed to find the mod that was clashing with it.
I'm attaching a debugging version. Like before, you'll need to remove the
old Rain Pain version and replace it with this one, making sure to change
the name to remove "DEBUG" from the filename. This will dump loads of extra
info in the log file, once it's running I suggest you go over to some field
when it's raining, see if it still says it's dry, and let the log file add
up some data, then send me a copy of the log file please.
If it hasn't arrived in this email (some email programs remove zip files as
attachments) then you can also download it by CLICKING HERE
<https://1drv.ms/u/s!Artr_I1BTbffg-tbz6_fkEOh23j43g?e=g0cqFW>
Later, if you ever want to stop the debugging from happening, there's a
line early on in the code that says:
*local RainPain.DB = true*
just edit it so it says
*local RainPain.DB = false*
Hope that all makes sense!

Another update,
I keep playing with it to see what is causing the issues, and now it is
possible that the MOD "HAND PLANT SAPLINGS" was the issue. I removed this
mod and we are now "working". Still an issue when it does rain, it is still
showing in the message box that the field is still "Perfectly DRY". When
you run a plow, it does take damage, but now at least it is doing what it
is supposed to do. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!

Scratch that, it does load, but does not show any information, I made it rain and it did not start logging any info. I am going to start removing more mods and see what is causing the problem. Stay tuned.

If it hasn't arrived in this email (some email programs remove zip files as
attachments) then you can also download it by CLICKING HERE
<https://1drv.ms/u/s!Artr_I1BTbffg-tbz6_fkEOh23j43g?e=g0cqFW>

Damn, I made a simple mistake.
Can you replace the main.lua in that zip file I sent you with this one
instead?
It just removes "local" from line 24

Glad you've managed to find the mod that was clashing with it.
I'm attaching a debugging version. Like before, you'll need to remove the
old Rain Pain version and replace it with this one, making sure to change
the name to remove "DEBUG" from the filename. This will dump loads of extra
info in the log file, once it's running I suggest you go over to some field
when it's raining, see if it still says it's dry, and let the log file add
up some data, then send me a copy of the log file please.
If it hasn't arrived in this email (some email programs remove zip files as
attachments) then you can also download it by CLICKING HERE
<https://1drv.ms/u/s!Artr_I1BTbffg-tbz6_fkEOh23j43g?e=g0cqFW>
Later, if you ever want to stop the debugging from happening, there's a
line early on in the code that says:
*local RainPain.DB = true*
just edit it so it says
*local RainPain.DB = false*
Hope that all makes sense!

If it hasn't arrived in this email (some email programs remove zip files as
attachments) then you can also download it by CLICKING HERE
<https://1drv.ms/u/s!Artr_I1BTbffg-tbz6_fkEOh23j43g?e=g0cqFW>
Later, if you ever want to stop the debugging from happening, there's a
line early on in the code that says:
*local RainPain.DB = true*
just edit it so it says
*local RainPain.DB = false*
