  • Automatic updates, on by default. PixelScribe checks for a new version when it opens and every 6 hours, downloads it in the background, and checks it against Pixel Ventures' update signature. Click "Restart to update" in the window or the menu bar or tray menu to finish; on a Mac it also finishes when you quit. Switch it off under Advanced settings; IT can switch it off for a whole computer with PIXELSCRIBE_DISABLE_UPDATER=1.
  • Mac: signed and notarized. The app and the disk image carry Pixel Ventures LLC's Developer ID signature and are notarized by Apple, so they open with no warning.
  • Signed Windows installers. Both files carry Pixel Ventures LLC's code signature (Microsoft Artifact Signing). Because the certificate is new, Windows may still show "Windows protected your PC" for a while, now naming Pixel Ventures LLC as the publisher.
  • Copies of 0.1.0 cannot update themselves: install 0.1.1 once, and later versions arrive by themselves.

  • The Mac installer is signed by Pixel Ventures LLC (Developer ID LM3P28DNVQ) and notarized by Apple.
  • The Windows installers are not code-signed yet. Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" the first time; the guide shows what to click. Signed installers will replace these.
  • The speech model is inside the app. PixelScribe needs no internet and sends nothing anywhere. It does not update itself; a new version comes as a new installer here.
