     82 params_dict = self._np_to_params(params_np)
     83 # set fixed params
---> 84 params_dict |= fix_params
     85 timeout = self.best_runtime
     86 # set timeout depending on time budget

TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for |=: 'dict' and 'dict'

should be params_dict.update(fix_params) I think
