Phone-style folders for your Windows 11 desktop: drop one icon on another to make a group. Groups are virtual, so your files never move, and Windows' own desktop comes back as soon as you quit.

Install

  1. Download Folder.Explorer_0.3.3_x64-setup.exe below and run it. It installs for your user only, no administrator rights needed.
  2. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC": click More info → Run anyway.

Requires Windows 11 (x64). Upgrading: Folder Explorer offers new versions itself (Settings ▸ About), or install over the old version; your layout and settings stay.

Changes

Added

  • Files can be dropped straight from an archive onto the desktop, a folder icon or a group: a ZIP or RAR opened in File Explorer, WinRAR, or mail attachments. Windows extracts them, just like dropping them in File Explorer.
