Android (new) #24

This is the first release of the app for Android. It is built from the same code as the iOS app, and covers the following:

  • Login to furaffinity.net, including Cloudflare challenges, with automatic login on later launches.
  • The Followed submissions feed: "new submissions" badge, pull-to-refresh, automatic refresh when you come back to the app, and reading position kept between launches. Swipe a submission to remove it. Tap the tab again, or the arrow that appears when you scroll up, to go back to the top.
  • Submissions: view the full-screen zoomable image. You can also favorite, save to the gallery or share, read descriptions with in-app links, read and post comments, and view the submission metadata.

Not ported to Android yet: Explore (search), Notes, Notifications, the Profile tab, user pages, journals, and background refresh with notifications. Links to those screens show a placeholder for now.

iOS

🐞 Bugfixes

  • Fixed links in submission descriptions and comments not opening when the app was locked behind Face ID AND hidden. This addresses #7
  • Fixed avatars sometimes missing from iOS notifications, which showed the app icon instead.
  • Fixed pull-to-refresh on the Submissions feed sometimes doing nothing until you scrolled back to the top.
  • Cloudflare challenges that need a tap now show up right away, instead of after an 8-second wait.
  • Fixed a Cloudflare check running again on every app launch, even after it had been passed.

📦 Miscellaneous

  • The app can now send crash reports to help fix crashes. They contain only the call stack, device model, and system and app versions, with no account information. You can turn this off in Settings tab > Advanced > "Send crash reports" (the same option exists on Android).
  • On iOS 18, the Login button on the home screen now stands out from Register.
  • The app starts faster: the Submissions feed shows its first thumbnails up to 2 seconds sooner on a cold launch.
  • Comments on a submission load faster.

⚠️ Note for AltStore Classic users: the app contains an extension. AltStore may ask during installation whether you want to keep the extension, which counts toward your weekly App ID limit. If you remove it, you lose the submission preview shown when you long-press an iOS notification.
