• Citations and links work again in the PDF reader. Links inside a PDF (citation numbers like [6, 7], "Fig. 1", section references) are drawn in blue and clickable. A citation scrolls to its place in the paper, and ↩ Back returns you to where you were. Web addresses open outside the app.
• Dictionary-style word lookup. Select one to three English words and choose Translate: you get the word with its UK/US pronunciation, its meanings by part of speech, and what it means in this sentence. Longer selections are translated as before. Looking up a word sends the word and its sentence (up to 400 characters) in one AI request; nothing else is sent.
• Mention notes in notes. Type @ in a note (or use the @ button) to pick another note, and write things like "this answers @1 and uses the view in @3". Notes are now numbered from top to bottom in the Notes list and in the editor. The Notes list draws an arrow from a note to each note it mentions; selecting a note lights only the arrows it sends. Numbers can change when you add a note above, and your mentions follow the notes, not the numbers. If you delete a note, mentions of it show as @✕.

Fixed

• Selecting text in the PDF reader could start or end a few pixels away from the printed words on justified lines, and more at higher zoom. Each word is now placed where it is printed, and the selection follows.

• Download in the app. When PageTide cannot fetch a paper's PDF itself (a site that only lets browsers download, a bot check), the reader offers Download in the app. It opens the paper's page in a PageTide window, where you get the PDF as in a browser; the PDF is then added to the paper by itself and the reader opens it. If the page asks for a sign-in or a human check, you complete it in that window; PageTide never does it for you. Some sites still do not hand the PDF over; the reader then tells you to download it from the original page in your browser and drop it in.

• PDFs you add yourself (dropped, chosen, or from the download window) are kept in the library's PDF folder. Clearing the downloaded paper information never removes them.

• CNKI (知网) as a source for Chinese papers. Switch it on in Settings → Data sources. PageTide searches CNKI in a hidden window inside the app: daily refresh (up to 3 Chinese keywords, at most 100 new papers per project per refresh), candidates when creating a project, and seed-paper search by title. Papers show a 知网 label; the full abstract is read when you open a paper. If CNKI asks for its slider puzzle, the window appears and waits for you; PageTide never solves it itself. PDFs from CNKI are downloaded by hand (campus network).
• Feature guide. A new 功能介绍 page explains every feature and workflow; it is linked from the top bar.
• Version number in Settings, above the update check.

• No relation, no paper. A paper is only fetched and recommended when its title or abstract mentions one of your project's keywords (or, with a learning map, one of its concepts). Chinese keywords must appear as written. Chinese searches on OpenAlex now ask for the exact phrase; before, they matched single characters and most results were unrelated. Unrelated papers fetched earlier stay in your library but are no longer recommended, so Chinese projects may show fewer papers until the next fetch.
• Baidu search is retired; CNKI replaces it.
• Project creation: creating without seed papers asks first and lets you search, create anyway or cancel; manual creation can search papers by query (no AI) and pick them with the same checkboxes as AI creation; a note warns when a ticked language has no source switched on; it explains that keywords drive later fetches while queries are used only during creation.
• Top bar: 新建项目 is a prominent button; 管理项目 and 功能介绍 have icons.
• Settings warns before leaving with unsaved changes.
• PDF downloads you start yourself behave like a browser download: they no longer consult robots.txt, fill in a site's missing intermediate certificate, and accept links with Chinese characters. Sites that only allow browser downloads now say so: open the original page, download there, and drop the file into the reader. The "PDF on original page" label explains the same on hover.

Fixed

• The reader could fail to load on some Windows machines ("Failed to fetch dynamically imported module"). The cause is not confirmed yet. The app now serves its own files with fixed types, and if pdf.js still cannot load, the message says what the app's server answered, so the cause can be found.
• The manage-project page had lost its styles.

• 自己点开的 PDF 下载和在浏览器里下载一样：不再读 robots.txt，会补上网站缺失的中间证书，能处理带中文的链接。只允许在浏览器里下载的网站会直接说明：打开原文页下载后拖进阅读器。“PDF 在原文页”标识的悬停说明也是这个意思。

修复

• Highlights and notes in the PDF reader. Select text to highlight it in one of five colours or attach a note. The reader sidebar switches between page thumbnails, the PDF's own outline and a list of this file's notes.
• Formulas in titles and abstracts. LaTeX such as $\mathbb{F}_p^d$ is now drawn as a formula (KaTeX, bundled, works offline).
• Choose where your library lives. Settings → Storage and export → Change… copies the library to a folder you pick, checks the copy and restarts into it. The original folder is kept; once everything looks right, delete it from the same place. A folder that already holds a PageTide library is used as it is.

• arXiv works without OpenAlex. With only arXiv switched on, PageTide searches arXiv's own API. Journals and conferences (OpenAlex) are searched only when you add a free OpenAlex key in Settings; with a key, an OpenAlex outage falls back to arXiv.
• A failed fetch says one plain sentence (rate limited, no network, key refused) instead of showing a request URL.
• Settings page redesigned: one row per setting, switches for on/off, every button has an edge, and test results show a green tick or a red cross.
• AI questions live in the PDF reader. The floating assistant button on the home page is gone; ask from the reader's "Ask about this paper" button or a selection in the PDF.
• Windows: closing the window keeps PageTide in the tray. Reopen it from the tray icon; quit from the tray menu.
• Quieter interface: one type scale, smaller corners and shadows, no hover jumps; scrollbars hide 3 seconds after you stop scrolling; text can be selected only in abstracts, the PDF and input fields.
• The guided tour shows once after installing (again only after a reinstall with no project).

• The "leave without saving" dialog on the project creation page was white in dark mode.

• Windows：关闭窗口后缩到托盘。 点托盘图标恢复窗口，在托盘菜单里退出。

• The app is now called PageTide, with a new icon and wordmark.
• On first launch you choose the interface language and appearance, then a guided tour runs on a read-only demo project: projects, settings, today's picks and AI preview, saved papers, ask about a selection, library and import, graph, profile and weekly report. The demo runs offline, spends no tokens and writes nothing to your data.
• New installs no longer come with a default project or sample seed papers; you start by creating your own project.
• In-app update check: when a new version exists, the home page says so; click "Update" to download, verify and install it (can be turned off in Settings).
• Settings: a "Get" link next to the DeepSeek key; Baidu keeps only Baidu Search.
• The recommend button no longer has a fixed paper count; "Not interested" and "Too hard" are visible on the card and can be undone.
• AI preview covers the whole batch of recommendations (1 to 20 papers, one AI call) and says more per paper: 2–3 sentences on the problem, method and result, 1–2 sentences on why it is relevant to you, and one caution.
• Windows: "Read PDF" no longer fails with "network unavailable" for arXiv and similar sites, and "original page" and publisher links now open in your default browser.
• macOS: Intel Macs are now supported. Download PageTide-macos-arm64.zip for Apple silicon (M1 and later) or PageTide-macos-x64.zip for Intel; the in-app update picks the right one.
• The app no longer waits on a slow network name lookup when it starts.

Windows: the download is blocked

The installer has no code signature, so the browser or Windows Defender may block it:

1. If the browser says the file "isn't commonly downloaded" or "may be dangerous", open the download list, click … → "Keep" → "Show more" → "Keep anyway".
2. If it then shows "Failed – Download error", Defender has quarantined the file: open "Windows Security" → "Virus & threat protection" → "Protection history", find the threat just recorded (often named like Wacatac), open it → "Actions" → "Allow on device", then download again.
3. If running the installer shows "Windows protected your PC", click "More info" → "Run anyway".

To check the file in PowerShell: Get-FileHash .\PageTide_0.1.1_x64-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256 must match the content of PageTide_0.1.1_x64-setup.exe.sha256.

Windows 下载被拦截怎么办

安装包没有代码签名，浏览器或 Windows Defender 可能拦下它：

1. 浏览器提示“通常不会下载”或“可能有害”时，在下载列表里点 … →“保留”→“显示更多”→“仍然保留”。
2. 如果之后显示“无法下载 - 下载错误”，是 Defender 把文件隔离了：打开“Windows 安全中心”→“病毒和威胁防护”→“保护历史记录”，找到刚才那条威胁记录（名字常见 Wacatac 之类），点开 →“操作”→“允许”，然后重新下载。
3. 运行安装包时如果出现“Windows 已保护你的电脑”，点“更多信息”→“仍要运行”。

可以用 PowerShell 校验文件：Get-FileHash .\PageTide_0.1.1_x64-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256，结果应与 PageTide_0.1.1_x64-setup.exe.sha256 的内容一致。

首次打开（两个版本都没有代码签名）

• macOS：解压后把 PaperDigHelper 拖进“应用程序”，右键应用 → 打开 → 再点“打开”。也可以在终端执行 xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/PaperDigHelper.app。
• Windows：运行安装程序。SmartScreen 提示“已保护你的电脑”时，点“更多信息 → 仍要运行”。安装到当前用户，不需要管理员权限。系统没有 WebView2 运行时的话，安装程序会联网下载。

数据位置

• macOS：~/Library/Application Support/PaperDigHelper
• Windows：%LOCALAPPDATA%\PaperDigHelperData

卸载应用不会删除数据。

已知限制

• Windows 版在 GitHub 的 Windows 机器上通过了全部测试、打包后的冒烟测试和安装包构建，但还没有在 Windows 真机上运行过。
• Windows 上的密钥文件没有 macOS 那样的 0600 权限，只受用户目录的默认权限保护。
• 两个版本都没有签名，杀毒软件可能拦截。
