Casper v0.4.1 — preview

Changed

• A Claude Code plan sign-in is accepted under any plan name Claude Code reports, unless that name says free, API or console.
• When Casper refuses a Claude Code sign-in, the message names the plan Claude Code reported.
• Every box is an open box: a title rule, text at the left edge and a closing rule, so copying takes no border.
• Approval and question boxes start at the left edge, so a command copied from Run this command? has no leading spaces.
• The side answer has no │ gutter, so it copies with only its words.
• On Linux, a command held by the sandbox can no longer make its own user namespace, and neither can Casper's network MCP server.
• Inside the Linux sandbox, a program that sandboxes itself, such as Chromium without --no-sandbox or rootless podman, now fails.
• Merged decision records in docs/adr/0002 say accepted, and decision 47 says the Yes to everything row was kept.

Fixed

• A Claude Max sign-in that Claude Code now reports as Claude Ultra works with claude-subscription again, still with no API-key fallback.
• Your own Claude Code settings, such as auto-mode rules, no longer reach Casper's Claude Code plan requests.

Casper v0.4.0 — preview

Added

• When sudo on this computer asks for its password, Casper asks in its own hidden box, and the AI never sees it.
• Editors, logins, y/n installs and other commands that need you get Casper's terminal, and !command runs one yourself.
• The AI asks for a key or token in Casper's hidden box; the value goes to a file or the next command, never the AI.
• A paste holding a token asks 1 Remove it · 2 Send anyway before anything is sent.
• Auto mode: in a trusted folder, a model judge lets ordinary build commands run and asks about the rest; auto mode off stops it.
• Casper asks whether to trust a folder before its own checks and scripts run, and /trust changes the answer.
• Skills in ~/.agents, ~/.claude, ~/.copilot, ~/.pi and ~/.codex are read as yours, and a project's once you trust it.
• When the AI stops partway through a request with several steps, the Next row offers Continue: <step>.
• Receipts list work outside this folder and what was published, such as a push or a GitHub release.
• "copy that" copies the answer's block, and an answer that is mostly one block offers Copy the prompt on the Next row.

• /model lists for ChatGPT and Copilot stay current again, and finding a model server no longer cancels the refresh.
• A receipt reports a secret only for a real one, not a placeholder such as YOUR_TOKEN in a form, test or README.
• A recorded check whose baseline request crashed the service counts as failing first, so its fix is proof.
• A browser check already failing when it was recorded asks Fix it anyway? before its repair.
• In a folder Casper can't fully read, the app folder holding the work gets its own checks and the Switch there offer.
• A pasted terminal screen no longer moves you to another project.
• The untrusted-text reader caps long strings, reads the end of a large file and names its fix instead of failing.
• Plain server reads over ssh, such as uname or df, no longer show as config changes.
• The AI's questions show Markdown as meant, with no stray backslashes.
• Undo's copy survives a file that keeps changing while it is copied, and the receipt no longer shows git's error text.
• A network login just added, or not added yet, is a grey step note, not a red failure.
• The agent guard lets command -v, which and an agent's --version or --help run.

• The crew panel shows explorers too, with the step each helper is on; Ctrl+O lists each helper's last five steps.
• Tests that import node:test run with node --test when no script runs them, and the receipt reads Node's pass and fail counts.
• "Export this session to the desktop" in plain words runs /export, with no model call.
• /details all, /details full and /details verbose all mean detailed.

• A copy refused because Casper can't read its destination ("$d/cli.js") says so and names it, instead of claiming it changes a configured check.

• When a folder has an earlier conversation, the start offers 1 Continue the Oct 21 conversation, and anything you type starts a new one.

Changed

• A plain casper in a folder always starts a new conversation, as Claude Code, Codex and Copilot CLI do.
• A helper that stopped at its limit with findings shows a grey partial note instead of a red failure.
• When a conversation outgrows the model's window, one line says Casper compacted it instead of an error.

Fixed

• Code such as secret = !pagination is no longer hidden as a secret, while a value starting with ! still is.
• A Claude tool call with broken JSON is refused and the task goes on instead of stopping.
• /security-review update says downloaded only for advisory data that changed, and says how old the data in place is.

• In a session, look adapt or look layout and type runs as /look, and a name one letter off still works.
• After a /look report, 1 on the row under it, or /look fix, fixes everything it found in one task.

• A /look with no page looks again at the page the last /look in the conversation used.
• The AI's browser can open a page up to 3840 by 2160, and /look adapt also checks the width you use.
• A critique asks at most 3 questions, last, and only where an answer would change a fix.

Fixed

• A browser check recorded in one task can be replayed in a later one instead of failing as an unknown check.
• On Windows, the AI's browser screenshots reach the model instead of failing, so /look sees the page there too.

• When the AI stops with work open and asked you nothing, Casper sends it on, twice at most; keep_going: off turns this off.
• The task after a plan build is told which accepted steps are still open and where the saved plan is.

Changed

• A line you type during a task no longer ends it: the AI answers it, then carries on with the task.
• A plan with several open questions asks them one after another and rewrites the plan once with every answer.
• A plan longer than the screen shows what a rewrite changed and where the saved plan is, not the whole plan again.
• The AI gets Casper's service tool once your plan or its own command uses a local server, so the app it builds stays up.

• A line you send while a step only waits, such as a sign-in window, ends that wait so the AI reads it now.
