Code for GovTech (C4GT)

World’s first active open-source community around DPGs for sustainable DPI implementations.

Initiatives

The C4GT Community Projects Listing page offers a diverse selection of projects focused on Digital Public Goods (DPGs), Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), and Tech for Good, catering to various domains, complexities, and skill levels. Individuals can explore these opportunities to contribute meaningfully while advancing their technical skills. By joining the community on Discord and visiting the website, contributors can engage with projects and participate in a gamified, incentives-based platform designed to encourage impactful contributions through technology.

Code for GovTech (C4GT) has conducted three rounds of its Dedicated Mentoring Program (DMP) since 2022, providing students and professionals the chance to work on population-scale tech projects with the guidance of expert mentors. Participants tackle real-world problems with DPG builders and adopters. In 2024, C4GT introduced a product usability and design track, focused on enhancing product accessibility, open to design students or those with 0-2 years of professional experience.

Inaugurated in 2023, DPG Dialogues is an annual gathering of leaders, practitioners, and contributors from the Digital Public Goods (DPG) and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) ecosystems, focusing on the evolution of the sector, its challenges, and future strategies. This year’s theme, "Thinking, Building, and Sustaining DPGs & DPI," promises a range of insightful sessions and opportunities for meaningful connections. Attendees can expect interactive discussions, hands-on showcases, and networking with global leaders and changemakers, celebrating the transformative power of technology to drive population-scale impact. DPG Dialogues 2024 will take place on October 9th at the India International Centre in New Delhi.

The Campus Leaders Program is designed to empower students and young professionals to drive change within their communities by promoting Digital Public Goods (DPGs) and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). This initiative encourages participants to take the lead in fostering awareness, collaboration, and innovation around technology for social good on their campuses. Through mentorship, training, and access to resources, participants will develop their leadership skills while actively engaging in projects that address local and global challenges. By becoming advocates for DPGs and DPI, Campus Leaders will play a vital role in building a more connected and sustainable future.

The rise of population-scale technology is revolutionizing public services and impacting billions through Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which supports nations in achieving their goals and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. Digital Public Goods (DPGs) serve as the open-source foundations for these infrastructures, crucial for addressing global challenges. However, the sustainability of DPGs depends on robust developer communities that enhance product quality and drive innovation. To aid this effort, C4GT is launching the annual ‘DPG State of the Community’ report, providing a comprehensive overview of community-building initiatives within DPGs and offering insights from both organizations and developers.

C4GT aims to leverage a deep standard’s first approach to provide a platform for continuous collaboration between organizations and contributors that enhances contribution readiness for organizations, better aligns incentives for contributors with those of organizations, and eases cross-platform discovery through standard issue templates for issues.
